At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on December 10, 2012,
Mrs. Shirley Ann Martin, wife of the late Mr. Hazen B. Martin Jr. of St.
George NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on December 11, 1937, she was a
daughter of the late Edgar and Bessie (Marr) Kelson. A loving mother,
grandmother, sister in law, and cousin, Shirley is survived by four sons:
Daniel (Wendy) Kelson of Campbell River BC, Ronald Howell of Eastern Passage
NS, Christopher Martin (Linda Mullins) of St. Stephen NB and Robert Martin
of Blacks Harbour NB, one daughter, Sharon (Anthony) Scott of St. George NB,
several grandchildren, one sister in law, Sharon Clark of Saint John NB,
special cousins Susan (Ralph) Veniot of Lake Echo NS and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband Hazen, she was predeceased
by one grandson, James “Jamie” Howell and by one sister, Ethelyn Vautour.
Prior to her retirement, Shirley was employed by Connors Bros. in Blacks
Harbour. She was a quiet soul who enjoyed keeping to herself, doing puzzle
books and watching television.
As keeping with Shirley’s request, all services will be private. In lieu of
flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be
appreciated by the family. Arrangements in the care of the St. George
