Chipman "Chippy" Erroll Spear
Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on September 15, 2013, Mr. Chipman “Chippy” Erroll Spear, husband of the late Mrs. Dorothy (Foster) Spear of St. George NB. Born at St. George NB on May 27, 1929, he was a son of the late Cecil and Amy (Leslie) Spear. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle he is survived by one son, Peter (Kathy) Spear of St. George NB, two daughters; Karen (Larry) Taylor of Quispamis NB and Mary (Greg) Hatt of Blacks Harbour NB, eight grandchildren; Jennifer, Mark, Sarah, Kendra, Madison, Rachael, Nicholas and Adam, six great-grandchildren; Matthew, Dominyka, Mia, Ethan, Olivia and Ellie and special nephews, nieces and cousins. In addition to his parents and loving wife, Dorothy, Chippy was predeceased by one brother, Cyril Spear and by one sister, Wilma Carr.

Prior to retirement, Chippy spent most of his years in retail, having been Grocer and Manager at Connors Supermarket. He later became Food Representative for Trecartins Food Sales. He had a passion for sports, especially hockey, curling and baseball and could often be heard cheering on the Blue Jays. He was a member of both the Brunswick Curling Club, Blacks Harbour NB and the St. George Curling Club, St. George NB and was an avid reader in his quiet time. He enjoyed playing cards on Friday nights and loved to watch old movies. He will be sadly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from St. Marks Anglican Church, St. George NB on Wednesday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating followed by the interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Chippy’s memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation, the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
