Alice Addley Boyd “Pim” passed away on June 17, 2013, at the Charlotte
County Hospital in St. Stephen, New Brunswick. Born in St. George, New
Brunswick on June 14, 1919, Alice was the daughter of the late William Hugh
and Ada Boyd. She was predeceased by sisters Bernice Boyd and Doris
(Douglas) Maxwell, and brothers Clifton (Esther) and Hazen (Pauline) Boyd.
After graduation from St. George High School, Pim joined the family
business, Boyd Brothers Hardware. During World War II she contributed to the
war effort by working for the War Time Prices and Trade Board in St. John
and Ottawa. After the war she went back to Boyd Brothers and her many years
of managing the business gave her a valued connection with both the business
world and the home town she loved. She was a wonderful source of St. George
history and blessed many people with information about people and places
that where part of a lifetime spent in the town. She will be especially
remembered for her love of music, books and gardening. She enjoyed travel
and had many entertaining stories to share about her adventures near and
far. She was a parishioner of St. Mark’s Anglican Church in St. George where
she carried on a family tradition of playing the organ. She will continue to
be loved and missed by three generations of nieces, nephews, and family and
friends.
Visitation will take place at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26
Portage Street, St. George NB, on Thursday, June 20th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Mark’s Anglican
Church, St. George at 2:00 p.m. on June 21st, with burial to follow at St.
George Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to St.
Mark’s Anglican Church or the charity of your choice.
