With great sadness, we wish to announce the passing of Mr. Donald “Donnie”
Allan Steen, of Embassy Hall Nursing Home, Quispamsis, NB and formerly of
St. George, NB. He passed peacefully in his sleep at his residence on April
18, 2013. Born at St. Stephen, NB on April 10, 1947, he was a son of the
late Charles J. and Mary E. (Craig) Steen. A loving father, grandfather and
brother, Donnie is survived by one daughter, Andrea Steen (Mike Hardy) of
Willow Grove, NB, one grandson, Brandon Hardy also of Willow Grove, NB, one
sister, Judy (Terry) Koch of Maple Grove, NB, two brothers, Robert (Shirlee)
Steen of Slave Lake, AB and Wayne (Natalie) Steen of Fredericton, NB, and by
several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Prior to retirement, Donnie worked as a Welder by trade. He was an avid
outdoorsman who loved fishing and playing golf. He had a love for music and
could often be heard playing his guitar. In his quiet time, he enjoyed
writing Poetry. Donnie was previously a volunteer with the Salvation Army
and other local charities in the Saint John area for many years. He will be
sadly missed by all who knew him.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage
Street, St. George, NB, from where the service will be held from the Gary E.
Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Darren Millett
officiating. The interment will take place at the St. George Rural Cemetery
at a later date. Visting at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 pm until
service time. In Donald’s memory, donations to the NB Heart & Stroke
Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the
family.
