At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on January 19, 2012, Mr.
Douglas “Eugene” Leavitt of Pennfield NB passed peacefully away with his
family at his side. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on December 10, 1938 he was
the son of the late Eldon and Mildred (
Craig) Leavitt. He will be sadly
missed by sons, Don (Una) Leavitt and Kevin (Michelle) Leavitt both of
Musquodoboit Harbour NS, daughter, Geri (Kevin)
Myers also of Musquodoboit
Harbour NS, his long time companion, Ruth (
Borthwick) and her family, Bill
(Gwen), Sue (Brian) and Robyn, his sister, Frances (Arnold)
Hatt of Utopia
NB, grandchildren, Victoria, Chris and Kyle, one great grandchild, Lucas and
several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents he was
predeceased by a sister Alice and by a brother in law Jim.
Gene was an avid outdoorsman, who spent many hours with family and friends
at his camps in McDougall. He took great pride with his time spent with
Scouts Canada as a Leader. He loved his career as a carpenter and will
always be remembered for his handy skills.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage
Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E.
Waycott Memorial Chapel on Monday at 10:00 am with Rev. Gordon Cooke
officiating. The interment will be held at the St. George Rural Cemetery in
the spring. Visiting at the funeral home will take place on Sunday from 2-4
and 7-9 pm. Due to severe allergies in the family, please refrain from
wearing scented products to both the visitation or service. In Gene’s
memory, donations to the Lung Association or to the Charlotte County Cancer
Society would be appreciated by the family.
