Unexpectedly, at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on December 16,
2011, Mr. Albert Johnston, husband of the late Mrs. Edith (
Anthony) Johnston
of Utopia NB. Born at DeWolfe NB on March 7, 1927, he was a son of the late
George Willard and Vivian Florence (
Hatt) Johnston. A loving father,
grandfather and brother he is survived by five sons; Howard (Wanda) Johnston
of Tiverton NS, Graham (Joanne) Johnston of St. Stephen NB, Donald (Helena)
Johnston of Moncton NB, Gordie (Melina) Johnston of Back Bay NB and David
(Kim) Johnston of Saint John NB, two daughters; Rose (George)
Reyna of
Boston MA and Ellen (Laurie)
Leavitt of Salisbury NB, several grandchildren,
great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, seven siblings and many
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Edith, he was
predeceased by one daughter, Joyce Leavitt and by two sons; Albert “Sonny”
Johnston and Raymond Johnston.
Prior to his retirement, Albert worked in the Construction Industry and was
also previously employed as a Mechanic for Connors Bros. in Blacks Harbour
for many years. He was an avid outdoorsmen who loved hunting, especially
Moose and also enjoy fishing. In his later years he loved to spend time in
the shop keeping busy with his hands. He will be missed by all his loving
family and wonderful friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage
Street, St. George NB from where the service will be held from the Gary E.
Waycott Memorial Chapel on Sunday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating
followed by the interment at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the
funeral home will take place on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Sunday
from 10 am until Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County
Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by
the family.
