Willis J. Kinney

The death of Willis Kinney of Moss Glen, NB, husband of Loreen (Darrah) Kinney, occurred April 8, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  He was born in St. Stephen, son of the late Granville and Myrtle (Simonds) Kinney.

Willis was a resident of St. George moving to Moss Glen in 1988.  He owned and operated the “Birches Drive-In” for 24 years in St George.  Willis was also a forest ranger for a number of years.  He was a veteran of WWII serving overseas with the Artillery and was a member of Moss Glen Branch 62, Royal Canadian Legion.  Willis was a member of St George Lodge #12, F. & A.M., St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George and All Saints Church, Clifton Royal.

He is survived by his wife Loreen; one daughter, Joyce Cochrane, Brown’s Flat; three sons, Allan Kinney (Brenda) and Mark Kinney (Ann), of St. George, and Robert McLeod (Margaret), Burnt Church; one step-daughter, Juanita Sheldrick, Clifton Royal; one step-son, Roger Merritt (Beth), Quispamsis; one sister, Helen McLay, Medway, Maine; one brother, Glenn Kinney (Viola), St. Stephen; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian (Robbins); one daughter, Joan Kinney; three sisters, Hilda Little, Leah Laming, Jessie Kinney; and his half-brother, Alton Hewitt.

Resting at Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, with visitation on Monday from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.  The funeral will be held 1:00pm, Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at Reid’s Funeral Home, with Rev. Peter Gillies officiating.  Interment will follow at 3:30pm in St. George Rural Cemetery.  Memorials to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.  A legion tribute will be held Monday, 7pm at the funeral home.
