Sherman Eugene Hatt



Sherman passed away unexpectedly on December 12, 2006 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born on November 29, 1933 in Lake Utopia NB, to Ethel (Anderson) and Wellington Hatt. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ellen (Campbell) Hatt, one son; Stephen (Mary) Hatt of St. George NB, one daughter; Laurie (Harry) Moses of Lake Utopia, two granddaughters; Jill Hatt and Stephany Hatt, both of Calgary AB, and his great grandson; Ethan J. Sinclair. He is also survived by his mother and father in law; Stephen and Bernice Campbell of St. George, three sisters; Marjorie Moses, Alice Hall and Hilda Christie, a special sister in law; Isabella Hatt, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Sherman was predeceased by his brothers; Arnold Hatt Sr. and Aubrey Hatt, three sisters; Pearl McHugh, Laura Christie and Edith Kelson.

In his early working years, he worked at various jobs, until 1972 when he was employed by Lake Utopia Paper from where he retired in 1994. After retirement, he could be seen out in the community. At Kenny’s store, visiting relatives, helping his daughter at the Dollar Store, and just giving a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved spending summers at his cottage at the Lake. His friendly smile and hearty laugh will be missed by all who known and loved him. His special little companion “Casey” will be lost without him. Sherman attended the St. George Baptist Church.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB on Thursday from 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the St. George Baptist Church in St. George NB on Friday, December 15, 2006 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Robert Meister officiating. In Sherman’s memory, donations may be made to the St. George Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
