MRS. HAZEN DINSMORE

ST. GEORGE--Word of the unexpected death of Mrs. Helen Dinsmore brought shock and sadness to her family, relatives, and a host of friends.

Her death occurred on Sept. 8, 1981, at the Charlotte County Hospital in St. Stephen, where she had been a patient for a few days.

The wife of Doctor G. W. Dinsmore, she was the former Helen Elizabeth Gallagher, born May 12, 1910, and a daughter of the late Samuel and Clara (Johnson) Gallagher of Centerville.

Mrs. Dinsmore was a graduate of the Provincial Teachers College in Fredericton and taught school in McAdam for five years.  Following her marriage to Dr. Dinsmore of St. Stephen in 1937, they have since made their home in St. George.

She was an active member of the local United Baptist Church, where she served as the church treasurer for a number of years, and a member of the Council of the Southwestern Baptist Association.

Mrs. Dinsmore was a Dominion Life member of the Women's Missionary Society, of which she was a past president and the current treasurer, and was a past president of the Ladies Guild of the church.

She also held membership in the St. George Town Library, which she was the treasurer; a member of the Senior Citizens Granite Town Club, and was a former member of Granite Chapter No. 15, Order of the Eastern Star.

Her gracious unassuming manner endeared herself to many people of all ages. She was ever willing to assist in times of need.  Always interested, always caring and always giving herself to help out with her churches, many activities, and in worthy causes.

Survivors include her husband; one son Bev. H. of Oakville, Ontario;  a daughter-in-law Joan; two grand daughters Kimberley and Lana Dinsmore, all of Oakville; one sister, Mrs. Mary Perley of Camp Hill, Penn., and a number of cousins, nephews and nieces.

The funeral was held from her home to the local United Baptist Church, where the service was conducted by the minister, Rev. J. Baird.  Assisting with the service were Rev. Clyde A. Hicks of Barry Mills, and Rev. Dr. Charles Smith of Calais, former ministers of the church.

The hymn, The Longer I Serve Him, was sung by the senior choir of the church, accompanied by the organist, Mason W. Mitchell.

The pallbearers were Bruce W. Dunwoody, K. Burr Martin, Norman P. Wentworth, Ronald V. Craig, Addison W. Emery and Donald A. Craig.

Members of the two missionary societies of the church; of the Ladies Guild, and of the town library attended the funeral in a group.

Numerous and beautiful floral tributes were received, as well as many donations being made to the various memorial funds given in Helen's memory.

Among the many attending the funeral were relatives, and friends from Ontario, Camp Hill, Halifax, Maine, and from many cities and towns within the province.

Following the committal service, an informal reception was held at the home for relatives and family friends.
