It is with great sadness that the family of Jack Eugene "Gene" Hoffman
announces his passing at home in St. George, New Brunswick, on Tuesday,
November 27, 2012. Born, September 30, 1946 in Middleton, Nova Scotia, he
was the son of Meena Hoffman and the late Leslie Vaughn Hoffman. He is
survived by his wife, Barbara Hoffman; his children Julie Ingalls (Neil),
Jennifer Maxwell (Phillip), Janet Thompson (Cush) and Christopher Hoffman
(Catherine); grandchildren Michael, Erin, Owen, Lily, Meg, Seth, Kate and
Allie; his mother Meena Hoffman; his brothers Lewis Hoffman (Barb) and Brian
Hoffman (Cathy) and many nieces and nephews.
Known as the Charlotte County Mountie, Gene was a member of the RCMP for 31
years. He was well respected by cops and robbers alike. He was generous, fun
loving, outgoing and loved people. Gene was always involved in sports, first
as an athlete, then as a little league coach and hockey manager. The camp at
Piskahegan was his home away from home where he enjoyed the company of his
buddies during hunting and fishing expeditions. After retirement, you would
find him having tea at ten with the men. Despite his apparent rough outer
layer, Gene cared deeply for those around him. His children and
grandchildren were the joy of his life. Above all else, Gene was a family
man.
