Wing, Saint John NB on May 4, 2011, Mr. Phillip Malcolm Foster, husband
of Mrs. Elsie A. (Seamans) Foster of
St. George NB. Born at Grand Manan NB on February 18,
1926, he was a son of the late Merton and Ruth (Tait) Foster. A loving
husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Elsie,
he is survived by one son, William Foster (Angie McVicar) of St. George
NB, three daughters; Heather (Robin) Bunner of Victoria BC, Sarah Foster
of St. George NB and Jackie (Derek) Welles of Blacks Harbour NB, five
grandchildren, two great grandchildren, six sisters and several nieces,
nephews and cousins. Phillip was predeceased by one sister, Dorothy
Spear and by one brother, Lowell Foster.
Prior to his retirement, Phillip worked as a school bus driver for the
local area. He was a veteran having served with the Canadian Army with
the Carleton York Regiment from 1939-1945 serving in Canada, Britain and
Northwest Europe and receiving the Volunteer Service Medal. In his later
years, Phillip was a homebody who enjoyed spending time with his family
and was known to have a gift for conversation. In his quiet time he
enjoyed repairing small engines and going for drives. He was a former
member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 39, Blacks Harbour NB.
There will be no visitation by request. A Memorial Service will be held
from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home
& Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Saturday at
2:30 pm with Rev. John Martin officiating. In Phillip’s memory donations
to the Alzheimer's Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would
be appreciated by the family.
