Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on May 9, 2009, Mrs.
Florence Mildred (McGarrigle) Leavitt, wife of the late John G. Leavitt of
Blacks Harbour NB, formerly of Back Bay NB. Born at St. George NB on August
13, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James and Seretha (Leavitt)
McGarrigle. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Florence is survived by
three sons; Aldon (Miko) Leavitt of L’Etang NB, Jerry (Carol) Leavitt and
Gary (Cindy) Leavitt both of Back Bay NB, three daughters; Shirley Wilcox of
Utopia NB, Janet (Brad) Henderson of Seeleys Cove NB and Martha (Garfield)
Hawkes of Back Bay NB, 18 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, one great
great grandchild, brothers; Gerald McGarrigle of Blacks Harbour, Wesley
(Pam) McGarrigle of St. Stephen NB and Kenneth (Jaunita) McGarrigle of
Blacks Harbour NB, one sister, Emma Maillet of Blacks Harbour and several
nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband John, she was
predeceased by sisters, Mary Walsh, Linda Matheson and Doris Nason and
brothers; Lorne, James William and Everett.
Florence was a loving soul who enjoyed to spend time at home with her
family, especially her grandchildren. She loved to watch TV, cook and found
joy in feeding the Ducks. She will be greatly missed by all her family and
friends.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage
Street, St. George NB with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm and on Monday from
3-5 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Seaview Full Gospel Church
on Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cooke officiating followed by interment
at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Florence’s memory, donations to a
charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
