D. Betty  Dewar
Unexpectedly at her residence on March 15, 2011, Mrs. D. Betty Dewar, loving wife of Mr. Ronald Paul Dewar of St. George NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on July 24, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Milford and Georgie (Larmer) Bell. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Ronnie, she is survived by five children; Sandy Dewar of Belize, Brian (Dawn) Dewar of St. George NB, Judy Dewar of Fredericton NB, Tammy (Brent) Wright of Lepreau NB and Cheryl (Walter) McCarthy of Onaping ON, nine grandchildren; Katherine, Krista, Ryan, Jan, Jordan, Reece, Liam, Cory and Josh, two sisters; Eleanor Hanley of St. Andrews NB and Mary Lou (Rick) Pike of St. Stephen NB, one brother, David (Mary) Bell of St. Andrews NB, brothers in law; Edgar Johnson of St. Andrews NB, Lawrence (Marie) Dewar of Deer Island NB, Sherman Dewar of St. George NB and Ralph (Lynn) Dewar of Beaver Harbour NB, sister in law; Vida Bell of St. Stephen NB, special cousins, Glenna and Keith Munroe of Belleville ON and many special nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by infant granddaughter, Emily and by siblings; Barbara Johnson, Jimmy Bell and Robert Bell.

Betty had been previously employed at Point Lepreau with the Service Maintenance Department for approximately 20 years. She was an avid card player who loved a good game of Canasta or Rummy. She truly had a heart of gold and was always the first person to help someone in need whether it was clothing for a child or just a shoulder to lean on, Betty felt her best when she was helping others. She enjoyed cooking not only for her family but for friends and if you left her house hungry it was fault of your own. In the summers she loved to go camping with her husband Ronnie at Penobsquis NB. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visitation being held on Friday, March 18, 2011 from Noon until 2 pm. A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at 2 pm with Rev. John Matheson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
