Maizie Violet (Mitchell) Cunningham
Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, on April 17,
2005, Mrs. Maizie Violet (Mitchell) Cunningham, wife of the late
Glenn E. Cunningham of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in Deer Island, NB on January
27, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Amy (Doughty)
Mitchell. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by one son,
Larry (Joannie) Cunningham of Pennfield, NB; one daughter, Loma (Eugene)
Anderson of L'Etang, NB; four grandchildren, Geoff (Sandra) Cunningham of
Pennfield, Stacey (Eric) Green of Oromocto, Erin Boudreau (Danny
Douglas) of Lawrence Station, Amy (Kenny) Wright of Beaver Harbour; one
step-granddaughter, Shyanne Carrier of Pennfield; ten
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dora Newman of Bangor, Maine, and Wilma
Bishop of Deer Island; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special
friend and neighbour, Karen Campbell. Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased
by one brother, Ralston ('Bud') Mitchell.
Prior to retirement, Maizie had worked as a salesperson for Rubin's, Stedman's,
and the Metropolitan stores. She enjoyed her word search puzzles and watching
TV. She was also a member of the St. George Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal
Canadian Legion, Branch # 40.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St.
George, NB with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The
service will be held on Wednesday at 2 pm from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial
Chapel at the S1. George Funeral Home, with Rev. Bruce Cheney officiating,
followed by interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Maizie's memory,
donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
