Charles Randall Fraser
Unexpectedly, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB, on August 15,
2005, Mr. Charles Randall Fraser, 85, of Utopia, NB, husband of the late Maude
Marie (Maillet) Fraser. Born in St. George, NB on December 6, 1919, he
was a son of the late Harry and Grace (Spear) Fraser. A loving
step-father and step-grandfather, he is survived by three step-sons, Ronald
(Diane) Smith of Rose Hill, NB, Wallace (June) Smith of Utopia, and David
(Carol) Smith of Edmonton, AB; one step-daughter, Janice (Aubrey) Delong
of Skip Lake, NB; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; as
well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also survived by a very
special niece, Gladys Boles of Utopia. He was pre-deceased by six
brothers and five sisters, and was the last surviving member of his immediate
family.
Charlie served in WWII for the 8th Hussars in Italy, France, and Germany and he
participated in the liberation of Holland. He had worked for a number of years
as a clerk in Frank Spinney’s Furniture Store and retired from the Irving Saw
Mill in Pennfield. He loved to do wood working, and was a life time member of
the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #40, St. George.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St.
George, NB from where the service will be held on Friday at 2 pm from The Gary
E. Waycott Memorial Chapel, followed by interment in the St. George Rural
Cemetery. Visiting at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and Thursday
from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Legion Tribute service will be held on Thursday at 6:30
pm. In Charlie’s memory, donations to the Passamaquoddy Lodge Building Fund, or
a charity of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated by the family.
