Obituary from Saint Croix Courier (dated Feb. 16, 1993)
Family and friends were saddened by the death of Bessie Beney
following a lengthy illness at the Fundy Hospital, Saturday, January 30,
1993.
Born at Elmcroft, Charlotte County, she was the daughter of the
late Samuel and Lena Beney.
Bessie lived at Elmcroft and St.George and prior to her death
resided at the Senior Citizens Complex, Black's Harbour.
Bessie was a devoted Christian and a member of the United Pentecostal
Church, Black's Harbour. She was a member of the Ladies Missionary
Group.
Bessie was predeceased by her father, Samuel Beney, 1970, mother,
Lena Beney, 1966, three brothers, Warren, 1985, Vincent, 1988, Otis, 1990,
two sisters, Irene, 1924, and Marion, 1933.
She is survived by two brothers, Samuel of Pennfield, and Arthur
of St.Stephen; one sister, Beatrice Leavitt, Black's Harbour, several nieces
and nephews.
The body rested at St.George Funeral Home until Feb.2, where
a memorial service was held from the Pentecostal Church in Black's Harbour
with Rev.Donald McCarty officiating, assisted by Rev.Joseph Ebbett and
Ross Cook.
A solo, 'He, the Pearly Gates will Open' was sung by Sherry Beney
and a duet, 'Beyond the Sunset' by Rev. and Mrs. McCarty. Message
from Mark 14:3-9.
Interment in the Second Falls Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ken Hooper, Evans Maillet, Guy McLaughlin, Kenneth
Stewart, Lawrence Stewart, and Eric Watson.
Bessie was a loving, sharing, lady. She will be missed
by all her family and friends.
