Peacefully, after a lengthy illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 8, 2002, Mr. Merlin Edward Frost Jr. (Sonny) of Bonny River, husband of Marilyn (Craig) Frost. Born in Saint John, NB on March 6, 1947, he was a son of Merlin E. Frost Sr. and the late Marjorie (Bent) Frost. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by his wife, one daughter Lisa, Mrs. Terry Leslie of Seeleys Cove; one son Jason and his wife Stacey of Bonny River; two grandchildren, Grant Leslie and Joel Frost; his father Merlin Sr. of Bonny River; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his mother, he was predeceased by one brother, Paul.

Sonny taught school for 28 years. He taught at E.C.R.S., Pennfield Elementary as well as St. George Elementary. He took an active part in many school activities including coaching girls softball and the Fundy Minor Hockey Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening and was an avid Montreal Canadians fan. He has been treasurer of the Second Falls Volunteer Fire Department since its beginning.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB (755-3533) where the family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. The service will be held from the St. George United Baptist Church on Monday at 2 pm. Interment in the Second Falls Community Cemetery. Visiting at the church on Monday from 10 am until noon. For those who wish, donations to the Charlotte COunty Cancer Society or to the St. George Baptist Church Building Fund would be appreciated by the family.
