Peacefully, at his
residence, and surrounded by his family in St. Andrews, NB, on May 14,
2004, Mr. Francis Herbert McAleenan, beloved husband of 61 years to
Alberta (Dewar) McAleenan.
Born in St. George, NB on May 1, 1914,
he was a son of the late Herbert and Florence (Noonan) McAleenan. A loving
husband and father, he is survived, besides his wife, by one son, Jack
(Janyne Blacklock); one daughter, Jean (Will Dupuis); one daughter-in-law,
Liz McAleenan; all of St. Andrews; seven grandchildren, Sarah (David
Groom), Amy (Dean Lord), Mary, Bridget, Morgan, Neily, and Emily; four
great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul of Saint John, NB; two sisters,
Geraldine McShane of Milltown, NB and Pauline Curran of Old Ridge, NB;
several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased, besides his
parents, by brothers, John, Jim, Pat, Henry, Lawrence and Leo, and also
sisters, Elizabeth, Louise, Doris and Kathleen.
Frank was a
veteran of WWII, and active overseas in France with the Black Watch
Regiment. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #8 of St.
Andrews, NB. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, building model lighthouses,
and going to his camp.
Resting at St. Andrews Roman Catholic
Church, St. Andrews, NB from where a Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am with Father Bill Brennan as officiate.
Interment to follow in St. George’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Visiting at
the church on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Arrangements in the care of St.
George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. In
Frank’s memory, donations to the St. Andrews Roman Catholic Church
Building Fund or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by
