CARMINA RUTH BARRETT -1922-2005






Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on November 7, 2005, surrounded by her loving family, Mrs. Carmina Ruth (McCarten) Barrett, wife of the late Russell Hazen Barrett, of L’Etang, NB. Born in St. George on October 1st, 1922, she was the daughter of the late James Leo and Margaret Isabel (Murray) McCarten. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by three sons, James (Brenda) Barrett of Back Bay, Murray (Linda) Barrett of Seeley’s Cove and Thomas (Janice) Barrett of Back Bay; five daughters, Janet Fleet-Matheson (Melvin) of Utopia, Patricia Barrett of L’Etang, Eileen Craig of Toronto, ON, Carla (Michel) Venne of Montreal, PQ, Heather (Robert) Spicer of Beaver Harbour; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great granddaughters; and her babies, Hannah, O’Reilley, Hudson and Rusty. Carmina enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting, and her drives up to McDougall. She enjoyed knitting socks and mittens for her family, and was a great painter of ceramics. She also was a lovely cook and especially enjoyed Christmas.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held on Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Gordon Cook officiating. Visiting at the funeral home on Wednesday from 7-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or a charity of the donor’s choice, would be appreciated by the family.
