Saint Croix Courier Obituaries-Date unknown (St. George Rural Old-Part One)

MILDRED LOUISE CRAIG LEAVITT MACDONALD

Friends and relatives were saddened to hear of the recent passing of Mildred Louise (Craig Leavitt) MacDonald at the Fundy Hospital on Dec. 16, 1990.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Florence Sherwood Craig of Bonny River.

She is survived by her husband Allan, two daughters Mrs. Arnold Hatt Jr. (Frances), Mrs James Hicks (Alice) and one son Eugene Leavitt.

            One step-daughter, Mrs. Clarence French (Isabell) and four stepsons, seven great-grandchildren and six sisters, Florence Chambers, Edith Hamilton, Frances Justason, Eileen McLellan, Mary Steen, Shirley Hatt.  Her first husband Eldon Leavitt predeceased her in 1960.

Mrs. MacDonald spent most of her younger married years living in Blacks Harbour working for Connors Bros. Ltd. Later her retirement years in Pennfield with her husband Allan.

The largely attended funeral was held from the United Pentecostal Church, Blacks Harbour with Rev. Don McCarty officiating, assisted by Rev. Philip Grace.

Two hymns were sung Sheltered in the Arms of God by Lance and Peggy Matheson (granddaughter) and Good Night and Good Morning by Wendell and Velma Yerxa.

Interment in the St. George Rural Cemetery.

The pallbearers were six grandsons, Donald Leavitt, Kevin Leavitt, Tony Hicks, Allan MacDonald, David MacDonald, Dale French.

There were many floral tributes and donations to the many memorial funds.
