Edith “Beulah” (Spinney) Dewar
1915 - 2005

Unexpectedly, following a brief illness, the death of Edith “Beulah” (Spinney) Dewar, 90, of St. George, wife of the late George Alexander Dewar, occurred at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen on November 2, 2005. Born in L’Etang on August 21, 1915, she was a daughter of the late George Ross and Stella Irene (Smith) Spinney. She is survived by one brother, Douglas (Heather) Spinney of Saint John, special grandnephew, Ross Munn of Shubenacadie, NS; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Beulah graduated from the Provincial Normal School in 1933 and taught school in various areas of Charlotte County for 42 years until her retirement in 1975. Following her retirement, she supply-taught until the early 1980’s. She had many loves including quilting and tending her plants, especially her geraniums. Through the years, cooking for her family and friends, and sharing those meals, brought her great satisfaction. Sunday afternoon drives with loved ones filled many hours with joy. In her latter years, she enjoyed bird watching from her windows. She was a member of the St. George Baptist Church. Beulah was able to remain in her own home with the loving dedication of her caregivers, Patricia and Raymond Munn, as well as other close family members.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visiting on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday from the St. George Baptist Church, followed by interment in St. George Rural Cemetery.
