At the Saint John Regional Hospital, on September 14th, 2006, Mrs. Audrey Eileen (Mahar) Thorne, wife of the late Kenneth Frederick Thorne, of Beaver Harbour, NB. Born in Lake Utopia, NB, on June 16th, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Cornellia (Chambers) Mahar. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by five sons; Ricky and Danny Thorne both of Whitehorse, YT, Ross (Sammy) Thorne of Beaver Harbour, John (Karen) Thorne of Edmonton, AB and Blaine (Rhonda) Thorne of Utopia, NB, five daughters; Lois (Steven) Whittier of Beaver Harbour, Nancy Thorne (Leonard Cooke) of Utopia, Kathy (Billy) Small of Grand Manan, NB, Terry Thorne of Beaver Harbour and Berta (Paul) Kinney of Canal, NB, 24 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, one sister; Eunice (Charles) Neathway of Blacks Harbour, NB, and several nieces including special niece Lynn Mahar, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, one daughter; Karen Thorne, three brothers; Sylvanus, Lindell and Henry, and one sister, Irma.
Audrey loved the simple things in life. She cherished time spent with her family and was an avid card player. Audrey also enjoyed quiet times spent knitting or reading. In addition, many hours were spent by Audrey just listening to music, in which she loved so much.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visitation on Saturday, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 17th, 2006, from the St. George Baptist Church, St. George, NB, at 3:00 pm, with the Rev. Charles Yerxa officiating. Interment will follow at the St. George Rural Cemetery. In Audrey’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Caner or a foundation of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
