ROLAND THOMAS CRASWELL
Surrounded by his loving family, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint
John, NB on November 8, 2005, Mr. Roland Thomas Craswell, husband of the late
Margaret (‘Peggy’) Alverna (Young) Craswell, of Campbellton and formerly
of Blacks Harbour, NB. Born in Flat Lands, NB on April 6, 1936, he was a son of
the late Calvin Robert and Audrey (Irving) Craswell. A loving and caring
father and grandfather who was a ‘best friend’ to his family and friends, Roland
is survived by three daughters, Bonnie (Brian) Johnson of Blacks Harbour,
Kathy (Phillip) Hatt of Rollingdam and Jackie (Paul) Hatt of
Halifax, NS; one son, Joey (Dianne) Craswell of L’Etang; adopted son, Michael;
foster daughter, Frances (Ricky) Winters of Bonny River; seven
grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine (Fred)
Johnston of Fredericton and Marie (Billy) Falls of Quebec. He was
predeceased, besides his wife and parents, by a son, Thomas; a daughter, Janice
and a brother, Alvin Craswell.
Roland was an Industrial Mechanic for Connors Bros. Ltd., Can & Cover Division
for 35 years. He was a member of the Blacks Harbour Curling Club. He was an avid
hockey fan who followed the Silver Kings and the Fundy High Mariners Hockey
Teams through many seasons. He loved travelling and spending time with his
family. He also loved his truck and plow.
Resting at the St. George Funeral Home, (755-3533), 26 Portage Street, St.
George, NB with visiting on Thursday from 3-5 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated at 2 pm Friday from St. George’s Roman Catholic
Church, followed by interment in St. George’s Catholic Church Cemetery. Family
and friends are invited to a reception at 273 Deadman’s Harbour Road, Blacks
Harbour, following the interment. In Roland’s memory, donations to the Saint
John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
