No Trace Reported Of Missing Plane
Twin-Engined Craft From Pennfield O.T.U. Disappeared Thursday Night

Transcribed by G. Christian Larsen

Up to a late hour yesterday afternoon no trace had been reported of a twin-engined plane and its two occupants from the Royal Air Force O.T.U. at Pennfield Ridge since last Thursday. The cooperation of the public has been sought in attempting to trace the machine, which took off at about 7 o'clock Thursday evening on a routine training flight and was due back two hours later. Other aircraft from Pennfield have been searching the territory within a radius of 50 miles of the station since Friday, and have been joined by naval craft from Saint John, but so far without results. Attention was centred particularly on the islands of Passamaquoddy Bay following reports from Deer Island and Grand Manan that a plane had been heard overhead on that night. Anyone who heard of saw a plane in difficulty within a 50 mile radius of Pennfield between the hours of 7 and 9 pm. Thursday, July 23, has been requested to get in touch with the commanding officer of the station immediately.
