JUSTASON, AVERIL LORENA - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 2, 2010, Mrs. Averil Lorena (Wright) Justason, wife of the late Edwin W. Justason of Pennfield NB. Born at Beaver Harbour NB on May 26, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Fenwick and Lulu (Scott) Wright. A loving mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by three daughters; Geraldine (James) Rogers of Saint John NB, Marsha (Daniel) Duncan of Oakville ON and Denise (Wayne) Stewart of Pennfield, seven grandchildren; Darren Rogers, Jaime (John) Wilson, Greg Simms, Ryan (Jo Ann) Simms, Dustin Stewart, Aaron Stewart and Kyle Stewart, one brother, Conrad (Leslie) Wright of Pocologan NB, three sisters; Maxine Allaby of Saint John, Norma Boyd and Brenda Barrett both of British Columbia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by brothers; Wallace, Phillip, Carroll and Morton and by sisters; Gertrude and Arletta.

Prior to her retirement, Averil worked at the Fundy Hospital at Blacks Harbour NB as an Admitting Clerk. She was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Auxilliary Branch # 39 and the Brunswick Curling Club both at Blacks Harbour. She was a avid golfer, curler and loved painting and doing crafts.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where a private family service will be held at a later date with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the Spring. Visiting at the funeral home on Monday from 7-9 pm. In Averil’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

McDOWELL, KEITH ALAN - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 6, 2010, Mr. Keith Alan McDowell, husband of Mrs. Clara R. (Norman) McDowell of Pennfield NB. Born at Pennfield on August 2, 1935, he was a son of the late Norman and Helena (Justason) McDowell. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Clara, he is survived by one son, Wayne (Sally) McDowell of Pennfield, two daughters; Peggy (Bill) Justason of Pennfield and Linda (Odule) Breau of Dieppe NB, six grandchildren; Joni (Steven) Stryde of Fort McMurray AB, Mark (Linda) Henry of Dartmouth NS, Gregory (Megan) Justason of St. George NB, Kenny McDowell of Toronto ON, Lisa Justason of Pennfield and Jillian (Josh) Walton of Moncton NB, three great grandchildren; Evan, Sarah, and Cole, one sister; Clara Johnson of Holland MI and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one brother, Bruce McDowell and by one son in law, Richard Whalen.

Prior to his retirement, Keith was employed by JD Irving Woodlands Division for many years. He was a member and Deacon of the Pennfield Baptist Church for more the 20 years. Keith was a family man who cherished spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed to spend time at his camp and meeting with his friends at Tim’s.

Resting at the Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield NB from where the service will be held on Saturday at 2 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the Spring. Visiting at the church will take place on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Keith’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. BABINEAU, HILDA EILEEN - Peacefully at her residence on January 13, 2010, Mrs. Hilda Eileen (Boyd) Babineau, wife of Mr. Leon J. Babineau of Pocologan NB. Born at Pocologan on September 26, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Layton and Mildred (Campbell) Boyd. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Leon, she is survived by two sons; Thomas (Darlene) Murphy of Blacks Harbour NB and Joseph (Orinda) Babineau of Pennfield NB, two daughters; Cathy (David) Dugas of Blacks Harbour NB and Andrea (David) Christensen of Alberta, ine grandchildren, two great great granddaughters, one brother, Terry (Laurie) Boyd of Bonny River NB, one sister, Mary (Ronald) Graham of Saint John NB, her faithful companion Sam and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by one sister Margaret Ryan and by one brother, Leonard Boyd.

Prior to her retirement, Hilda worked at Connor’s Bros. as a packer. She had a fond love for Bluegrass Music and was a member of the NB Bluegrass Association. She was also a member of the Valley Cruisers Car Club and enjoyed spending time on her computer working at her Farmville.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB from where the service will be held from The Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11 am with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the Spring. Visiting at the funeral home will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. JUSTASON, RHODA MAE - At the Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB on January 23, 2010, Mrs. Rhoda Mae (McLanaghan) Justason, wife of the late Howard J. Justason formerly of Pennfield NB. Born at St. George NB on November 20, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Caroline (Gillis) McLanaghan. A loving mother and grandmother, Rhoda is survived by one son, Peter C. Justason and his wife Donna of New Hope PA, four grandchildren; Robert Justason and Ryan Justason both of New Hope PA, Steven Hooper (Shawnalynne Stewart) of Utopia NB and Wendy (Wilfred) Cline of Deer Island NB, five great grandchildren; Erika and Andrew Cline and Tyler, Josh and Liam Hooper and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Howard, she was predeceased by three brothers, Fred, Harold and James, and by one sister, Helen Gaudett.

Prior to her retirement, Rhoda was the owner/operator of Justason’s Diner, "Rhoda’s" in Pennfield for 30 years. She was a member of the Pennfield Lions Seniors and of the Christ Church (Anglican) of Pennfield where she served on the Altar Guild. She will be missed by the many friends which she has made over the years.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB with visiting on Tuesday from 7-9 pm and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the Christ Church (Anglican), Pennfield NB on Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Keith Osborne officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. COULTON, BLAINE "CARMEN" - With sadness, the family of Carmen Coulton wish to announce to his friends his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B. on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. He was born in Blacks Harbour, N.B. on June 21, 1944 and was the son of Viola (nee Ingersoll) Coulton and the late Ray Coulton. During his lifetime he worked at several locations beginning with the Cold Storage Plant in Tunaville, the Connors Bros. warehouse and at several Salmon sites in the area. He was a man who loved being on the salt water and never strayed far from it (or Charlotte County). His quick wit endeared him to both friends and family. Carmen is survived by his wife, Carolyn (nee Hatt), one son, Dan (Sherry) of Rothesay, one daughter, Shannon of Woodstock; three grandchildren, Danielle Mann, Coulton Mann and Emma Coulton and his beloved mother, Viola Coulton of St. George and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

At Carmen’s request there will be no visitation but a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, February 20 at 2:00 pm at the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to a wake at his home following the memorial service. In Carmen’s memory, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. BARRY, RUBY BELLE - Peacefully at home, one day after her 93rd birthday, on June 24th, 2010, Mrs. Ruby B. (Sparks) Barry, wife of Mr. Aubrey R. Barry of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at Beaver Harbour on June 23, 1917, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret (Norman) Sparks. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Aubrey, she is survived by two sons; Wayne (Nancy) Barry of Ottawa ON and Brian Barry of Beaver Harbour, one daughter, Mrs. Anne Lewis of New Maryland NB, seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruby was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by one sister, Lillian, and by three brothers; Neil, Norman and John.

Ruby was a member of the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church for many years where the she was the pianist for 58 years. She loved music, cooking and enjoyed singing. Church and family life where her passion.

By Ruby’s request there will be no visitation. A service will be held at the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church, Beaver Harbour NB, on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Brent Wagstaff officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Ruby’s memory, donations to the Beaver Harbour Baptist Church or the Charlotte County Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family. BLAGDEN, MURRAY LINCOLN - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB, on July 31, 2010, following a lengthy illness, Mr. Murray Lincoln Blagden, husband of Mrs. Carolyn (Nice) Blagden, beloved wife of 45 years of Utopia NB. Born at Saint John NB on September 12, 1945, he was a son of the late John C. and Margaret E. (Burley) Blagden. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife, Carolyn, he is survived by two daughters; Ellen Blagden of Pennfield NB and Charlene (Robert) Lord and their children, Kaylee and Tonya Lord of Utopia NB, his sister, Sharon Blagden of Saint John NB, his brother, Phillip Blagden of Musquash NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Ellen Vera Blagden.

For several years, Murray was a Pipefitter/Welder by trade and was a member of the Plumbers and Piperfitters Union Local #213. He was a former employee of the Irving Pulp and Paper and the Irving Oil Refinery both in Saint John, Lake Utopia Pulp and Paper and Comstock. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, ice fishing and four wheeling. In the winter months he enjoyed Curling and was a former member of the St. George Curling Club and of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #69, Saint John NB. Murray was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Resting at St. Mark’s Anglican Church, St. George NB from where the service will be held on Tuesday at 2 pm with Rev. Mary Anne Langmaid officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. Visiting at the church will take place on Sunday from 7-9 pm and on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. In Murray’s memory, donations to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, St. Mark’s Anglican Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. HAWKINS, VERA ARLENE - Peacefully at her residence, with her family by her side, on September 14, 2010, Mrs. Vera Arlene (Morse) Hawkins, loving wife of 74 years to Mr. Arnold Seymour Hawkins of Beaver Harbour NB. Born at Tiverton NS on May 28, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Geneva (Outhouse) Morse. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her husband Arnold, she is survived by two sons; Ronald (Audrey) Hawkins of Beaver Harbour and Wayne (Faith) Hawkins of Blacks Harbour NB, three daughters; Belva McIntyre of Beaver Harbour, Anita (Gary) Frye of Quispamsis NB and Violet (Jamie) McKinley of Pennfield NB, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three sisters; Lena Morehouse of Pennfield, Phyllis Hawkins of Sudbury ON and Flora Zwicker of St. Stephen NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vera was predeceased by one great grandson, Zachary Acton and by two sisters; Bessie Morse and Mildred Russell.

Vera enjoyed gardening and loved knitting and quilting. She was mostly known for her open house and warm hospitality. She loved her children and family as they were her greatest treasures in life. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and all her loving family.

LEAVITT, WESLEY VICTOR - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on January 18th, 2011, Mr. Wesley Victor Leavitt, husband of the late Beulah Y. (Mallock) Leavitt of Blacks Harbour NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on May 14, 1919, he was a son of the late Wesley Sr. and Mildred (Bradford) Leavitt. A loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, he is survived by five daughters; Janice (Maurice) Boucher of Fredericton NB, Carol (Tito) Aparece of Blacks Harbour NB, Colleen (Stephen) French of St. George NB, Sherri (Gary) Mealey of Pennfield NB and Cathy Scott of Blacks Harbour NB, 8 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three brothers; Vance Leavitt of Pennfield NB, Herbert Leavitt and Keith Leavitt both of St. George NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his wife, Beulah, he was predeceased by one grandson, John Lane, one brother, Frank Leavitt and by three sisters; Norma Brown, Mildred Parks and Joyce Hanson.

Prior to his retirement, Wesley was employed by Connors Bros for many years. In his spare time he enjoyed puzzles, drawing, fishing, hunting or playing a game of crokinole. He also found humor in playing jokes on his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends.

Resting at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB with visitation on Wednesday from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 2 pm from the St. George Baptist Church, St. George NB with Rev. Darren Millett and Rev. Gary Bitely officiating, with the interment at Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the Spring. SELLARS, GORDON LeROY - At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on February 9, 2011, Mr. Gordon LeRoy Sellars, husband of Mrs. Marion Elizabeth (Ingersoll) Sellars of Pennfield NB. Born at Pennfield NB on July 25, 1920, he was a son of the late Harold and Jane (Hunter) Sellars. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to is wife Marion, he is survived by two sons; John (Linda) Sellars and Donald (Colleen) Sellars both of Pennfield NB, one daughter, Susan Sellars (Barry Daley) of Blacks Harbour NB, six grandchildren; Jodi (John) Woodside of St. Stephen NB, Shawn (Sally) Sellars of Weymouth NS, Nicole Sellars (Donald Blanchard) of Pennfield NB, Dianne (Joey) Craswell of L’Etang NB, Kevin Sellars of Pennfield NB and Laura Sellars (Todd) of Pennfield NB, seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins including special niece, Aldora Sellars of Pennfield NB. He was predeceased by one daughter in law, Susan (Walsh) Sellars, four brothers; Frank, Horace, Raymond and Harold and by four sisters; Margaret, Helen, Vera and Marion.

Prior to his retirement, Gordon worked for many years for Connors Bros in Blacks Harbour NB. He later joined the Labourers Union and worked during the construction of Point Lepreau. He was a veteran having served overseas in England during World War II with the Royal Canadian Artillery. Gordon was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, fishing and hunting and he could often be found helping people.

Resting at the Pennfield Baptist Church, Pennfield NB from where the service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. Visiting at the church will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. KINNEY, JOAN MARY - Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on February 22, 2011, Ms. Joan Mary Kinney, companion of Mr. Burton Bayers of Pennfield NB. Born at St. Stephen NB on October 3, 1947, she was a daughter to Willis Kinney and the late Lillian (Robbins) Kinney. A loving companion, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, in addition to her companion, Burton, she is survived by one son, Danny Hatt (Louisa Madsen) of St. Stephen NB, stepchildren; Randy Bayers of Beaver Harbour NB, Connie (Kirby) Harvey of Stewiacke NS and Lisa (Stephen) Dahr of Dartmouth NS, several grandchildren and great grandchildren including special granddaughter, Kylee Bayers, her father, Willis (Loreen) Kinney of Clifton Royal NB, two brothers; Allan (Brenda) Kinney of St. George NB and Mark (Ann) Kinney of Canal NB, one sister, Joyce Cochrane of Browns Flats NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prior to her retirement Joan worked various jobs, having been employed at the Bank of Nova Scotia, St. George NB and Passamaquoddy Lodge, St. Andrews NB. She was an avid gardener who loved to do yard work. She enjoyed cooking and spending as much time as she could with her granddaughter and family.

As keeping with her request, there will be no visiting. A memorial service will be held from the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel at the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium , 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Friday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn and Rev. Canon Keith Osborne officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in Joan’s memory to the Liver Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.

MATHESON, S. CRAIG - Peacefully at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on Sunday March 6, 2011, Mr. S. Craig Matheson, beloved husband of Arleen M. (Ingersoll) Matheson of Pennfield NB. Born at Cherry Valley PEI on May 6, 1932 he was a son of the late Furness and Grace (Jenkins) Matheson. A loving husband and brother Craig is survived by his wife Arleen, one brother Lawrence of Truro NS and several nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement, Craig worked for Connors Brothers in Blacks Harbour NB as a Distribution Manager for 43 years until he retired in 1994. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.

At Craig's request, there will be no visiting or service at this time. Donations to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are entrusted to the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB.

RYAN, JEFFREY NELSON "Jeff" - Unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on March 8, 2011, Mr. Jeffrey Nelson Ryan of Pocologan NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on May 14, 1973, he was a son of Mr. Nelson Ryan and the late Mrs. Margaret (Boyd) Ryan. A loving father, son, brother and nephew, he is survived by two daughters; Rebecca Flint and Cathleen Flint both of Saint John NB, his father, Nelson of Pocologan NB, three brothers; Wayne Boyd (Theresa) of British Columbia, Shawn Ryan and Jamie Ryan both of Pennfield NB and by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeffrey was predeceased by his mother, Margaret.

Jeffrey was a hands on type of guy who worked as a Clam Harvester. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to both hunt and fish. He will be missed by his family and friends.

There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Gary E. Waycott Memorial Chapel from the St. George Funeral Home & Crematorium, 26 Portage Street, St. George NB on Saturday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. Born on July 4th, 1923 at Castalia, Grand Manan, N.B., she was a daughter of the late Otis and Cora (Fleet) Urquhart. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she is survived by her husband, Weldon, one son, Russell (Barb) Theriault of St. George, N.B., one grandson, Lyle (Karen) Theriault of Saint John, N.B., three great grandchildren, one sister, Lillias Justason of Pennfield, N.B. and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Ruth was predeceased by one granddaughter Dannette, one brother, Gordon and by one sister, Naomi Richardson.

van de SANDE, ARNOLDUS JOHANUS "John" - The death of Arnold  "John" van de Sande of Quispamsis, beloved husband of Eleanor (Giggie) van de Sande occurred on Sunday, May 8th, 2011, at his home. Born on March 6th, 1937 in Rotterdam, Holland, he was the son of the late Petre and Lena (Westerweel) van de Sande.

Arnold immigrated to Canada in 1963 and soon met the love of his life, Eleanor. They married in 1965 and together raised their family. Arnold had a passion for building things and was employed as a carpenter. He loved to cook and was interested in history. Arnold devoted his life to caring for his family and loved them dearly, especially his grandchildren who will always remember their opa as awesome, playful and kind. Arnold will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Besides his loving wife, Eleanor, Arnold is also survived by three daughters, Patricia Brown (Stephen) of Norton, Suzanne Hatty (Richard) of Hampton and Barbara van de Sande of Calgary; six precious grandchildren, Meagan van de Sande, Maxwell Dovey, John Brown, Elizabeth Hatty, Thomas Hatty and Jacob Brown; two sisters, Nel Damen (Peter) and Anna Kraan (Toon) both of Holland; one brother, Burt van de Sande (Rea) of Holland; sisters-in-law, Cory van de Sande and Anna van de Sande both of Holland; several nieces and nephews. Arnold was predeceased by two brothers, Theodorus and Marinus.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, with visitation on Thursday from 4:00-5:30 and 7:00-9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held from St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, 239 Quispamsis Road, Quispamsis on Friday, May 13th, 2011, at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held at the church hall immediately following the service. A private interment will take place in Pennfield Rural Cemetery, Pennfield, NB.

McGARRIGLE, LORNE ELMER Jr. "Sonny" - Passed away on Tuesday, October 18th, 2011; Lorne Elmer McGarrigle Jr. of St Stephen, NB; husband of Pam Kovak Lee McGarrigle. Born in Black’s Harbour, NB on October 19th, 1945, he is the son of the late Lorne McGarrigle Sr. and Donaldine Bradford.

Sonny worked the last 20 years in the Halifax area, returning to St Stephen just recently to be closer to his family. Lorne also served with the Canadian Armed Forces with the Black Watch.

Sonny was an avid baseball enthusiast and player for many years in the Black’s Harbour area. He also served as an umpire for many games. Lorne really enjoyed playing poker with his friends.

Sonny is survived by his sons, Tracy (Jennifer), Kevin, of St Stephen, NB, stepchildren Alana Lee of Halifax, NS, Derek and David Lee, both of Ont, grandchildren Alyssa, Jeffrey, Asia and Alex, great grandchild Livia, brothers Colin (Ruth), Frank (Noreen), sisters Brenda Gaudet (Norman) Lorna Harris (Gorman), Mary Bustard, Coralee Somerville, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Born at Queensport, Guysborough County NS, on July 26, 1935, he was the son of the late Everett Edward Greencorn and Gladys (Ehler) Greencorn. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by one son, Dennis (Jane) Greencorn of Stittsville ON, two daughters; Darlene (James) Harris and Lisa (Danny) Hooper both of Calgary AB, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, six brothers; Melvin, Francis (Leona) and Carmen Greencorn all of British Columbia and Harold (Charlotte), Carl and Doug Greencorn all of Nova Scotia, three sister-in-laws; Ann VanHorne and Mary Johnson both of Canal NB and June Welles of Deadmans Harbour NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Howard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susie Greencorn and one daughter, Dorothy Harpell.

Prior to his retirement, Howard worked for Connors Bros in Blacks Harbour NB. He loved music, and was a very private person. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by many.

Having passed so closely with his recently departed wife, there will be a combined graveside service for both, which will be held at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery in the spring. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, in addition to her loving husband, Skinny, she is survived by five children; Brian (Nancy) Palk of Saint John NB, Wayne (Irene) Cook of St. Stephen NB, Rose Richard (Art Maillet) of Pennfield NB, Sheila Cleghorn (Keith Hunter) of St. Stephen NB and James (Mary) Cook of Utopia NB, six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one sister, Eleanor Young of Saint John NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Betty was predeceased by three brothers and by three sisters.

Prior to her retirement, Betty was employed at Connors Brothers. In her spare time she enjoyed going for walks with her husband, Skinny, or playing her favourite game, Bingo. A loving father, grandfather and brother, he is survived by five children; Brian (Nancy) Palk of Saint John NB, Wayne (Irene) Cook of St. Stephen NB, Rose Richard (Art Maillet) of Pennfield NB, Sheila Cleghorn (Keith Hunter) of St. Stephen NB and James (Mary) Cook of Utopia NB, six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, one brother, Joseph (Carol) Cook of Beaver Harbour NB, two sisters; Thelma (Joe) Chevarie of Saint John NB and Beverly (Paul) Justason of Pennfield NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Prior to his retirement Skinny served overseas for the Canadian Army with the North Shore Regiment as an Infantry Soldier and later to Motor Transport Corps. Following the war, he served at Camp Utopia as a Dispensary Clerk. He later worked for Connors Bros for several years as a Foreman. Skinny was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing and was a die hard Blue Jay fan. His family and friends will fondly remember Skinny’s recitation of poetry, especially at Christmas and he can still be heard reciting such classics as “The Cremation of Sam McGee”. His smile and humor will always be loved and remembered by all who knew him.

Born in England on November 17, 1939, he was the adoptive son of the late Jessie Rose Balfour. A loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, in addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by two sons; Michael (Nina) Balfour of Whitby ON and Paul (Anita) Balfour of Markham ON, two daughters; Jill (Rick) Spencer of Saint John NB and Lorraine (Stephen) McGuigan of Canal NB, eight grandchildren; Richard Balfour (Tonya), Jamie Russell (Denis Devost), Daniel (Megan) Murray, Christopher Balfour, Stephen McGuigan, Beverly Ann Balfour, Katie McGuigan and Richell Balfour, three great grandchildren; Garrett, Makenna and Jordynn Murray, one brother, Robert (Violet) Balfour of England, two sisters; Marjorie Pratt and Jean Vine both of England and several nieces, nephews and cousins. David moved to Blacks Harbour in 1979 and retired from Connors Brothers Can and Cover Division after many years of employment as a Production Manager. In his quiet time he enjoyed Curling, playing Badminton or could be found woodworking.

GIRARD, BERNADINE HILDA - The death of Bernadine Hilda Girard of Pennfield, NB occurred on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Bobby’s Hope House, Hospice Saint John surrounded by her family. Born in Beaver Harbour, NB on April 7, 1927 she was a daughter of the late William and Burla (Wright) MacVicar. After forty years in Real Estate in Calgary, managing the Co-op Trust Real Estate Office and working as a lab-technician for a private blood service Bernadine who had originally been from Milltown came back to her beloved Charlotte County for the past eight years. In Calgary she would provide Stampede Breakfasts, was a member of the Pythian Sisters, serving as Grand Chief of the Prairie Provinces, as a member of the Order of the Eastern Star she served as Worthy Matron and was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile. During the 1960’s she served with the Girl Guides of Canada and volunteered with the Milltown Recreational Council and was instrumental in bringing dances for teens and also helped to make possible the outdoor skating rink at Elm Park.
Survived by her three daughters, Suzanne Hooper (Ronald) of Pennfield, Marie Deveau (Norman) of Black’s Harbour and Carol-Anne Clegg (Steve) of Burford, ON; special friend, Nancy Gay of Pennfield; special cousin, Burla Magowan; seven grandchildren: Danielle Stewart of Grand Prairie, AB, Denise Boyle of St. Andrews, NB, Norma Stieh (Richard) of Black’s Harbour, Lena Giorgiou of Athens, Greece, Sandra Bennen of Windsor, ON, Wendy Braithwaite (Shawn) of Ottawa, ON and Colin Purser (Jenn) of Tilsonburg, ON; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Predeceased by two grandchildren, Jordan Richard Stewart and William Edward Deveau.

Born at Harcourt NB on April 30, 1932, he was a son of the late Hector and Mary (Shirley) Campbell. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, in addition to his loving wife, Jean, he is survived by one daughter, Connie (Ricky) Robbins of Bonny River NB, one grandson, Jeffrey (Alisha) Robbins of Elsmville NB, two great grandchildren; Brittany and Justin, one brother in law, Melvin (Janet) Matheson of Utopia NB, two sisters in law; Bernice Thompson of Blacks Harbour NB and Joan Taylor of Bonny River NB and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Archie was predeceased by one son, Peter Campbell, one brother, Gordon Campbell and by sisters; Helen Paul and Kathleen Stienkie.

Prior to his retirement, Archie was a self employed woodsman and truck driver. For Archie, music was a passion and he could often be found with a guitar in his hand. One of his best memories was going to Virginia where her met the Carter Family and Tom T. Hall. He enjoyed meeting new people everyday and talking to all his friends.

Born at Saint John NB on May 19, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Catherine (Matthews) Wooden. A loving mother and grandmother, Bernice is survived by two sons; Douglas (Carol) Young of Brampton ON and Kenneth (Kyong) Young of Orangeville ON, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Willard, she was predeceased by four brothers and one sister.

Prior to her retirement, Bernice was a supervisor at Beecham Products for 30 years. She loved doing puzzles, seek a word puzzles and spending time with her many friends at 124 Main Street, St. George. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted caregiver. She was a member of the Pennfield Seniors Club and the Pennfield Baptist Church.

Prior to illness, Marlene worked as a school bus driver in the local community. In her quiet time, she enjoyed being with her granddaughter Ashley. She was a loyal member of the Red Hatters Society and will be missed by her family and friends.

She enjoyed company and no one ever left her house without something in hand, be it pickles or homemade mittens, Jean loved to give to others.

Survived by her loving husband, Rodney “Curt” of 63 years; one chosen daughter, Gloria Thompson: three daughters; Pam (Roger) Hawkins, Connie (Philip) Lee and Noreen (Frankie) McGarrigle: three sons; Randy (Debbie) Harris, Tony (Sari) Harris and Eugene (Gale) Harris and one daughter in law Tammy (Omer) Harris; 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters in law and three brothers in law. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one son Dean; two brothers Garvin and Lewis Whittier. Olga was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Olga was a long term employee of Connors Bros. Limited. She loved curling, both playing and watching and was a member of the Brunswick Curling Club in Blacks Harbour for many years. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch # 39 and a member of the Harbour View Seniors and the Calvary United Baptist Church of Blacks Harbour. Olga was friendly and loving and her family was her whole life. She enjoyed spending time at the cottage on the lake and watching game shows on TV. She enjoyed bowling and will always be remembered for her dancing the Jive with her loving husband Rodney and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.

COOK, THELMA TRESSIE - Peacefully at the Fundy Nursing Home, Blacks Harbour NB on January 1, 2013, Mrs. Thelma Tressie (Maxwell) Cook, wife of the late Maurice G. Cook formerly of Pennfield NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on August 10, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Elsie (Justason) Maxwell. A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by five daughters; Rose Mahar of Blacks Harbour NB, Eunice Scott of St. George NB, Bernice Cook (Louis Gagne) of Pennfield NB, Judy (Wayne) McGarrigle of Pennfield NB and Margaret (Steve) Brohm of Newmarket ON, one son, Dale (Gwenith) Cook of Hatfield Point NB, one son in law, Wayne Gardner of St. Stephen NB, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Maurice, she was predeceased by three daughters; Barbara Leavitt, Pamela Palk and Joan Gardner, one grandson, Nathan McGarrigle, and by her son in laws; Claude Scott, Roger Mahar and Mariner Leavitt.

Thelma had a deep love for her grandchildren and loved animals. She was known as a women with extreme patience and for the last ten years she spent her time with her wonderful nursing home family.

Born at Blacks Harbour NB on March 29, 1965, he is the son of Eileen (Babineau) Bradford and the late Robert Bradford. A loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, in addition to his wife Jocelyn, he is survived by his children, Jenny Palk of Saint John NB, Olivia Palk of Ontario and Emily Bradford of L’Etang NB, one grandchild, Paige Doughty of Saint John NB, his mother, Eileen Bradford of Blacks Harbour NB, two brothers; George (Heather) Bradford of Ontario and Marvin Bradford of Nova Scotia, one sister, Judy (Chris) Seeley of Pennfield NB and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Prior to his illness, Kenny worked in the construction industry for several years with JB Builder’s and Teddy Wright’s Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping. A quiet man, he will be sadly missed by his family, co-workers and many friends.

A loving companion, mother, grandmother and sister, Lillian is survived by her companion, Don, three sons; Gerry (Linda) Johnson of Saint John NB, Darren (Audrey) Johnson of Pennfield NB and Wade (Darlene) Johnson of Blacks Harbour NB, 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two sisters; Sylvia (Eldon) Merchant and Cindy (Victor) Hooper both of Kerrs Ridge NB, four brothers; Gordon (Joyce) James of Pennfield NB, Robert (Gail) James of London ON, Kenny James of Texas and Larry (Martha) James of Kerrs Ridge NB and by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, Martin, she was predeceased by two sons, William Johnson and Michael Johnson and by two sisters; Alice James and Sharon Wasson.

Born at Blacks Harbour NB on December 22, 1917, she was a daughter of the late Barney and Bertha (Currier) Justason. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Charlotte is survived by one son, Stewart (Lorreen) Brown of Beaver Harbour NB, two daughters; Lydia (Patrick) Lapointe of Fredericton NB and Nina Szemerda (Brian Spear) of Utopia NB, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one sister, Eunice Fraser of Utopia NB and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by one daughter, Bertha Brown.

Prior to retirement, Charlotte worked as a Packer for Connors Brothers for many years. Following retirement she continued on as a hard worker being self dependant doing her own carpentry, woodwork and roofing. She also kept busy delivering groceries and parcels to everyone in the area. In her spare time, Charlotte enjoyed knitting and all who knew her had a pair of socks made by her. She will also be remembered for her amazing cooking skills, especially her donuts. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Born at Blacks Harbour NB on September 30, 1955, he was a son of the late Kenneth and Lois (Stevens) Guthrie. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, in addition to his wife Lila, he is survived by one son, Ashley (Holly) Guthrie of Seeleys Cove NB; one daughter, Jennifer (Paul) Smith of Limekiln NB; grandchildren, Jordan, Brenden, Chase, Alexander and Jude; siblings, Pat Dodd, Rosslyn (Horace) Hooper, Dale (Beulah) Guthrie, Shirley (Marcel) Senechal, Timmy Guthrie, Peter Guthrie and Carolyn (Jeff) Hatt; special friends, Allen Whittier, Rick Moss, Brian Spear and Paul McAllen and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Prior to illness, Donnie worked as a Boilermaker Welder for Local # 73. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed going out on the Argo and hunting and fishing with his buddy Allen Whittier. He loved hockey and was a goalie for the Old Timer’s League. Donnie was at his happiest when he was in the company of his wife, children and grandchildren and he will be remembered for his sense of humour and friendship.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Gladys is survived by her two daughters: Mary Jane (Michael) Mills and Alice (Donald) Clark both of Pennfield NB; six grandchildren: Michelle, Jeff, Heather, Holly, Andrew and Adam; 11 great-grandchildren: Gareth, Adara, Ryan, Janessa, Hannah, Patrick, Charlie, Ethan, Jayden, Colbey and Sophia; one sister: Pauline (Norman) McLeod of Pleasant Ridge NB and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was predeceased by one son in infancy: Phillip.

Gladys had a caring heart and giving soul and loved to be in the company of others. She loved her family and her greatest joy in life was being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She remained active in her later years as a member of the Orange Lodge, the Fundy Tide Seniors and the Harbourview Seniors. Gladys was a long time member of the Pennfield Baptist Church where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. Her kind nature and warm smile will be sadly missed by her loving family.

CLARK, DONALD SAMUEL "Don" - AThe unexpected death of Don Clark of Pennfield, husband of Alice (Young) Clark occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on March 13, 2015. He was born on June 17, 1949 in Westfield to the late Samuel and Inez Clark. Don worked as an operator for NB Power at Point Lepreau for over 25 years. He was a member of Pennfield United Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. Don loved his church and his church family. He was past-master of the St. George Masonic Lodge #12 F&AM and past-worthy patron for the Eastern Star. Don was actively involved in Fundy Minor Hockey, coaching when his children were young. Above all he loved and was very proud of his family.

Besides his beloved wife of over 35 years Alice, Don is survived by his sons: Jeff (Selina) of Pennfield, Andrew (Krystle) of St. George and Adam (Daphne) of Quispamsis; grandchildren: Janessa, Ethan, Jayden, Colbey and Sophia; brother, Robert (Kathy) of Mill Cove; sister, Viola DeBow (Donald) of Grand Bay-Westfield and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Born at Miscouche, PE on July 16, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Sophia (Gallant) Birch.

A loving mother, grandmother and sister, Amy is survived by her son, Allan (Dawn) Eldridge of St. George NB; three granddaughters: Amber (Justin), Ashley (Kyle) and Wendy (Rahul); great grandchildren: Savannah, Georgia, Daisy, Dixie as well as additions in May and July; her sister, Marion Tidd, brothers: Reggie and Albert as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, special nieces: Shirley and Elaine and special friends; Marlene and Sherman Wadlin. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Gib in 2004, her brother, Earl and sister, Theresa Sullivan.

Prior to her retirement, Amy worked at various jobs including waitressing and packing at Connors Brothers. She was a former member of the Brunswick Curling Club in Blacks Harbour and the Royal Canadian Legion Auxiliary Branch #39. She also enjoyed knitting, quilting and playing crib and spending time in her sewing circle.

A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Norma is survived by her only daughter: Debra Cooke (Dana Bagley) of Beaver Harbour NB; three grandchildren: Trevor (Kathy) Cooke of Pennfield NB, Danah (Colin) Barrett of Beaver Harbour NB and Dionne (Jamie) Comeau of Sylvan Lake AB; great-grandchildren: Colbie, Morgan, Kristie, Taylor and Dylan; one sister: Hazel (Donald) Justason of Pennfield NB, special friend and caretaker: Heather Dutcher of Seeley's Cove NB; one nephew: Steve; cousins: Faye, Allen and Cindy. In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was predeceased by her longtime companion, Ray Genge.

Prior to retirement, Norma worked at the Fundy Hospital, Collingwood Rest Home and at Passamaquoddy Lodge, normally holding housekeeping positions. After retirement, she moved to DeSable PEI to live with Ray and helped him oversee the day to day operations of the the DeSable Motel, where she enjoyed meeting all the tourists. Norma and Ray also enjoyed travelling during the winter months. In her earlier years, Norma loved music and enjoyed dancing, which she often spoke of in her retirement years. She enjoyed family gatherings, being with her grandchildren or going out to lunch with her friends. In her quiet time, Norma loved to watch TV and never missed an episode of General Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends.

CHENEY, ANITA "PEARL" - It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Mrs. Anita "Pearl" (nee Hobbs) Cheney, wife of the late Wilbert "Wib" Manson Cheney of Pennfield NB, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on April 23, 2015. Born at Milltown NB on July 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Isabel (nee Carruthers) Hobbs. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Pearl is survived by three sons: Carl Cheney of Pennfield NB, Vance Cheney of Waweig NB and Brian Cheney of Pennfield NB; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Pearl was predeceased by two brothers: Basil and Malcolm; and by three sisters: Melva, Rena and Jean.

Pearl was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed being a homemaker. She was very independent from an early age and cared for her siblings until she left home at the age of 14 when she moved to Blacks Harbour, NB. She was a warm and caring soul who loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

DODD, PATRICIA CAROL "Pat" - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on May 7, 2015, Patricia Carol (Guthrie) Dodd of Seeleys Cove NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on October 5, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Lois (Stevens) Guthrie. A loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Pat is survived by two sons: Kenneth Dodd and Matthew (Courtney) Dodd both of Seeleys Cove NB; her beloved grandson: Cory Dodd; siblings: Rosslyn (Horace) Hooper and Dale (Beluah) Guthrie both of Seeleys Cove, Shirley (Marcel) Senechal of Pennfield NB, Timmy Guthrie (Faith) of Lake Utopia NB, Peter Guthrie (Carolyn) of Grand Bay-Westfield NB and Carolyn (Jeff) Hatt of St. George NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Prior to illness, Pat worked for many years in the health care system. She truly had a giving, selfless heart and enjoyed caring for and helping others. Pat graduated from NBCC St. Andrews and began her career in Nursing in Saint John at both the NB Provincial Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital. In the early 80's she operated a care home for special needs in Millidgeville. Pat kept busy upon moving back to the local area where she was a member of the Kin Club, the Pennfield Fire Department and the Pennfield LSD. She was well known in the community as a local EMT who helped countless families, but at the end of her career, Pat enjoyed working as the Plant Nurse at Connor's Bros. in Blacks Harbour. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by her loving family and many friends.

MOREHOUSE, LENA MYRTLE - Lena Myrtle (Morse) Morehouse, passed peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on June 17, 2015, in her 107th year. She was Charlotte County's oldest citizen. Lena was born on February 27, 1909 at White Head, Grand Manan, NB, the daughter of the late James "Roy" Morse and Geneva (Outhouse) Morse. She is survived by her daughter: Shirley Stewart of Pennfield, NB; one sister: Flora Zwicker of Fredericton, NB; granddaughter: Sandra (Joe) Adam of Cornwallis, NS; grandson: Richard (Pauline) Stewart of Pennfield, NB; granddaughter: Marlene (Peter) Weaver of Sydney, NS; step-granddaughter: Ferne Matheson of Fall River, NS; seven great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Lena was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Mendell Morehouse; one son: Clayton Morehouse; four sisters: Bessie Morse, Vera Hawkins, Mildred Russell and Phyllis Hawkins; one great-grandson: Jordan Stewart; and one step-grandson: Mark Raymond; one son-in-law: Kenneth Stewart; one daughter-in-law: Barbara Raymond.

Lena, with her husband and family lived at White Head, Grand Manan, NB until 1939 when they moved to Blacks Harbour, NB where both she and Mendell worked for Connors Bros. Limited. They lived there until they moved to Pennfield, NB into their new home, built by Mendell in the 1950's, where she resided until her passing. While at Connors Bros., she was employed as a sardine packer for a number of years. Following that she was employed as a switchboard operator at the Fundy Hospital, Blacks Harbour, NB until her retirement in 1971. She was an avid nature lover who especially loved bird watching and took part, with her husband, in the annual provincial bird counts and reporting thereon. She loved camping, fishing and hunting. She was a longtime member of the Blacks Harbour United Baptist Church, Blacks Harbour, NB and a former Sunday School Teacher there. Lena was kind and welcoming to all who came to her door. "If you came broken, she would see that you mended." She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the funeral home with visiting on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held from the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 2:30 pm with Rev. Grant Alcorn officiating followed by the interment in the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. In Lena's memory, donations to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.

WILCOX, LAURA CHRISTINE - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John NB on June 18, 2015, with her family by her side, Mrs. Laura Christina (Anthony) Wilcox, wife of the late Laurence A. Wilcox of Utopia NB. Born at Wilson's Beach, Campobello NB on August 10, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Elizabeth "Bessie" (Fletcher) Anthony. A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, she is survived by daughters: Sandra (Roger) Harris of Utopia NB, Elaine Scovil of Hampton NB, Carol (Jerry "Dickie") Leavitt of Back Bay NB and Diana (Wayne) Vance of Canal NB; sons: Douglas Wilcox of Utopia NB and Jeffrey Wilcox of Amherst NS; 23 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; brother: Gordon Anthony of Saint John NB; sisters: Seretha Munn of St. George NB, Ruth Beney of Pennfield NB, Lillian Justason of Nerepis NB and Mary (Stephen) Boyd of Onoway AB; daughters-in-law: Shirley Wilcox and Clara Wilcox both of Utopia NB; sister-in-law: Joyce Evans of Saint John NB; brother-in-law: Sheldon (Audrey) Wilcox of Pennfield NB; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was predeceased by one son: Allison; daughter: Wanda; granddaughters: Emily Dewar and Allison Wilcox; grandson: Adam Harris; son-in-law: John "Sonny" Scovil; sisters: Merle McPherson and Edith Johnson; brothers: Wes, Millidge, Waitstill, Willard, Ronald, Graeme, James and Ralph.
Prior to retirement, Laura was employed at the Irving Saw Mill in Pennfield as a Machine Operator. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and camping. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger days, Laura was a great dart player and at one time held the championship title of New Brunswick. In her spare time, Laura could often be found knitting or enjoying Bingo. She was a lifetime member of the Pennfield Lions Club and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #39 Ladies Auxiliary in Blacks Harbour. She will be missed and forever loved by her family and friends.

Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George NB. Resting at the Blacks Harbour Wesleyan Church, Blacks Harbour NB with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 pm and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will be held at the church on Monday at 2:00 pm with Rev. Allison Hannan officiating, followed by the interment at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery. A Lion's Club Memorial Tribute Service will be held at the church on Sunday at 6:30 pm. In Laura's memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer, The Diabetes Association or to the Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit (3BN) would be greatly appreciated by the family.

JOHNSON, MARY LUCY - Unexpectedly at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB on July 10, 2015, Mary Lucy Johnson of Canal NB. Born at Blacks Harbour NB on December 2, 1954, she was a daughter of the late Jarvis and Helen (Carpenter) Johnson. A loving mother, step-mother, grandmother and sister, Mary is survived by her son: Albert (Leah) Sparks of Blacks Harbour NB; step-daughter: RuthAnn (Joel) Vienneau of Back Bay NB; one granddaughter: Eileen Sparks; one baby grandson on the way; one step-granddaughter: Bianca Vienneau; two sisters: Ann Van Horne of Canal NB and June Wells of Blacks Harbour NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by two brothers: Martin Johnson and Charles Johnson; and sister: Ellen "Susie" Greencorn.

Mary found no greater joy in life than being a mother and especially a grandmother. She loved to be with her family and friends every chance she could and was often found knitting items for those she loved. She will be sadly missed but forever loved by all who knew her.
