Shaw & Ellis Clam Factory

Shaw & Ellis Factory

Shaw & Ellis Factory (built by John Pickard)

One of the biggest factories in which clams were processed. It stood on the rocks in Pocologan Basin at Loch's Brook. The plant employed 40 to 60 workers and bought clams from diggers all along the coast. Their bestsellers was the Indian Chief brand of clams that was shipped around the world. As clam stocks declined, the plant closed and was torn down in 1967.
