Rev. Hubert Doody Inducted At Impressive Service Conducted By Vea. Archdeacon Hailstone
St. George, Aug. 2 -
The induction of Rev. Hubert Doody as rector of St. Mark's Church in St. George and Christ
Church in the Parish of Pennfield took place here Tuesday evening, July 27. Ven.
Archdeacon Edmund Hailstone of Christ Church, St. Stephen, conducted the
Institution, Rev. Harold Holder of Trinity Church, St. Stephen, read the
Bishops' mandate, Rev. J.E. Wickenden of McAdam gave the induction address. In
his remarks the speaker urged rector and people alike to "press toward the
mark for the prize of high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
Other clergy present were Rev. J.E. Lane of Oak Bay, Rev.
C.V. Giggey of Campobello, and assisting in the service were wardens Frank
Spinney and Frank Jackson. At the close of the very instructive and symbolic
service, benediction was said by Archdeacon Hailstone.
At the invitation of the rector, the congregation assembled
in the basement of the church when a reception for Rev. and Mrs. Doody was held.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spinney were in the receiving
line. Following this, refreshments were served by ladies of the church.
