LUDLOW - Clarence A. Pangburn Sr., 86, died Nov. 22, 1999, at his home. He was born Jan. 27, 1913, in Killoween, N.B., Canada,
the son of Ludlow and Maude (Bonner) Pangburn. He was a long time member of the Monument Lodge No. 96 AF & AM, Houlton. Clarence was raised in the U.S. by his aunt and uncle, Adelaide and Steve Taylor of Ludlow. Clarence was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute and was enrolled in Presque Isle Normal School, where he received a degree in elementary education. He is survived by his wife of 64 years,....  three daughters and six sons....,  36 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, .....; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church, Houlton, where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Russel Hartley officiating. The death occurred at the Fisher Memorial Hospital of Mrs. Ruth Parkinson, wife of Walter of Richmond, on Feb.1,1950. Born in Woodstock, N.B. in 1914
the daughter of Mrs. Albert Wort and late Mr. Wort, Mrs. Parkinson was a member of the Reformed Baptist Church. She leaves to mourn her husband and three small sons; her mother, Mrs. Albert Wort; five sisters, Mrs. C.W. Stiles, Fredericton, Mrs. Harold Sharkey, Deerville,N.B., Mrs. Eugene Smith, Mrs. Ronald Monteith, Woodstock; three brothers Allan, Donald, and Gordon of Woodstock. The funeral was held from the home of her sister, Mrs. Eugene Smith, Grover St., with Rev. Bertram Hicks, of the Reformed Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev. Gordon Smith of Canterbury. The choir sung, "The Lord is My Shepherd" an "Abide With Me". The pallbearers were Sidney and Jack Parkinson, Donald and Gordon Wort, Eugene Smith and Ronald Monteith. Interment took place in the family plot in the Methodist Cemetary. Floral tributes were many and beautiful. Out of town mourners were: Mrs. Jennie Steeves and daughter Ann of Toronto, Ont.; Mrs. C.W. Stiles of Fredericton; Mr. And Mrs. Harold Sharkey of Deerville, N.B.,   Rev. Edusin Parkinson and Mrs. Parkinson, and Mr. W.W. Parkinson, all of St. Stephen, N.B., Mrs. Margaret Hanson, Houlton, Maine, Mr. and Mrs. James Monteith and daughter, Southampton, N.B. and Mrs. Kenneth Stairs, Southampton. Elwin Leroy Patterson, of Dow Settlement passed away at Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock on Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the age of 69. Elwin is survived by his wife, Shirley (Nichol) Patterson; three daughters, Nancy (Al) Lindsay of Bedell Settlement, NB; Debra (Harrison) Thomas of Lower Woodstock, NB; Karen (Dwayne) Patterson of Dow Settlement, NB; two sons, Richard (Tabatha) Patterson of Dow Settlement, NB; Robert (Susie) Patterson of Canterbury, NB; two sisters, Emma Hawkes of Fredericton, NB; Elva Bradley of Canterbury, NB; four grandsons, three granddaughters. Elwin was predeceased by his parents, Burton and Teneriffe (Cummings) Patterson; one daughter, Valarie Lynn Patterson; one brother, Hayden Patterson and two sisters Arwilda Beatty, and Evelyn MacKelvie Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB with visiting on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Scott Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Patterson, John
The death of John Patterson occurred at his late residence, Newburg, NB., on March 2nd after an illness of several weeks.   Eighty-six years of age, Mr. Patterson was the son of the late Laughlan and Sarah Patterson and was born in West Glassville.  He was well known and had many friends.  Early in life, he was baptized and became a member of the Presbyterian Church.  He has resided at Newburg for the greater part of his life.  
Surviving are his wife; five sons, Charles, Donald, Douglas and WIlliam, all of Newburg, and John of Bowmanville, Ont.; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Hemphill [Arvilla] and Mrs. Hainsford Diamond [Margaret] and a number of other relatives.
  The funeral service was held from his late home to the Baptist Church, Newburg, conducted by Rev. A. Hatfield of Bath and assisted by Rev. Paul Underwood.  Hymns rendered were "Going down the valley", "Some golden daybreak", "Life's railway to Heaven" and " Good Night and Good Morning".  
Interment was in the family lot of the Newburg cemetery. 
The pallbearers were Turney Hale, Russell Sewell, Gordon Sharp, Guy Richardson, Keith Phillips and Roy Robertson.
  The floral tributes from the family and friends were numerous and beautiful.

Garry James Paul of Woodstock First Nation passed away October 7, 2003 at home. Born in Woodstock, he was the son of the late Simon and Edith (Saulis) Paul. He is survived by two brothers; Louis and Edward both of Woodstock, eight sisters; Rita Chevrette, Marjorie Poliches, Linda Paul, Catherine Depow (John), Karen (friend Derry), TerriAnn Thornton all of Woodstock, Leona Desgroseilliers (Romain) of Quebec and Cynthia Gabriel (Tony) of Fredericton, several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers; Howard, Allan and Joseph Paul. Visitation will be held at home, 17 Eagles Nest Drive, Woodstock First Nation on Wednesday evening and all day Thursday. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Father Paul Bebodu at Saint Gertrude's Roman Catholic Church at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2003. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Donations to the Cancer Society, St. Gertrude's Church or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Culberson Funeral Home, Woodstock.

Winston James Paul, passed away quietly on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at his home at the Woodstock First Nation, surrounded by his loving wife, children and grandchildren. A business owner and former Chief of the Woodstock First Nation for many years, his family was considered his greatest accomplishment and was always his first priority. Winston was a man of great faith and firmly believed in his church. He was a 4th degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Left to mourn is his wife Ilona (Haray) Paul; three sons, Timothy (Tobi) Paul; Philip (Karen) Paul; James (Penny) Paul; three daughters, Susan (Eric) Buckingham; Tina (George) Paul; Dawn (Jeff) Paul; 14 grandchildren all of Woodstock, NB. Winston is also survived by three brothers, Randolph (Faye) Paul; Wayne (Patricia) Paul of Woodstock, NB; Walter (Edith) Paul of Kingsclear First Nation; one sister Barbara Linder of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Marion (Saulis) Paul; one brother Joseph Paul; five sisters Grace Polchies; Margaret Francis; Geneva Polchies; Theresa Moulton and Marion Polchies. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, with visiting on Tuesday, from 2-4 and 79 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Gertrudes Catholic Church. The death of Helen E. Peabody, wife of the late Fred Peabody, long time resident of the Loch Lomond Villa, occurred on January 15, 2004, at her residence. Born in Woodstock, NB, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Eppie (DeWitt) Gray. She is survived by her sons James and his wife Dianne of Karrs, NB, Reg and his wife Roberta of Fort Hardy, BC, her daughters Nancy Cameron of Martinon, Betty and her husband Ron Lyons of Wickham, NB, Mabel and her husband Ron LaGasse of London, ON, Lorna and her husband Jack MacPherson of Charlottetown, PEI, her several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been predeceased by all her brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Andrea Murray. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Saturday from 10-12 Noon. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2004, at 2:00 PM, from Brenan's Chapel. Following cremation interment will be held at Christ Church Anglican Cemetery, Lower Woodstock, NB, in the spring. At the Northern Carleton Hospital Bath on December 25th, Anne Alice Perry passed away at the age of 74. Survived by daughters, Cynthia Broad, Geraldine Perry of Upper Kent and Maxine Perry of Kitchener On, sons, Ray of Holmesville, Austin and Brian of B.C. Sisters, Ruth Belya and Lelia Canam. 8 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter. Private family services to be held at Kilcollins Funeral Home, Bath on Saturday December 28th at 11 AM with Rev. Passed away March 22, 2003 at the Carleton Memorial Hospital, he was 79. Bernard Phillips, of Upper Woodstock, was born on September 14, 1923 in Yarmouth, N.S. to the late Frank and Lottie (McGrey) Phillips. Bernard was a 2nd World War veteran; he served from 1941-1944 over seas. Also, he was the former owner of Land of Floors. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Clark) Phillips, 6 children - Beatrice (Donald) Giberson of Wakefield, N.B., Larry (Eunice) of Fredericton, Joan (James) Galloway of Plymouth, N.B., Ronald Phillips of Richmond Corner, N.B., Mary (Lynn) Rosevear of Quispamsis, N.B., and Frederick (Patricia) of Upper Woodstock, N.B., one sister, Pearl Grant of Hartford, N.B., one brother, Donald (Joan) of Australia, 16 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by one sister, Evelyn Delong and one grandson, Christopher Giberson. Resting at the Woodstock Wesleyan Church on Sunday, March 23, 2003, where friends may call 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 pm. Lyman, Maine.  Mrs. Nettie Mae Phillips, 85, widow of Harry E. Phillips, died here Friday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Willard A. Rollins. She was born at Middle Simonds, N.B., August 25, 1877,
daughter of Elijah and Margaret Christian Shaw and had resided here the last 55 years.
Besides her daughter, she is survived by a son, Kenneth S. Phillips, Alfred, Maine; two brothers, Allison and Harley Shaw, both of Middle Simonds, N.B.; a sister, Mrs. Byron (Lulu) Raymond of Robinson, Maine; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at 61 Maine St., Springvale, Maine.  The Rev. Lester C. Holmes, North Alfred will officiate.  Internment will be in Chadbourne Cemetery in the spring.

Pickard, Ambrose E.
The death of Mr. Ambrose Eugene Pickard, formerly of Creighton Avenue, Saint John, husband of the late Patricia R. (Bain) Pickard, occurred on Wednesday, October 16, 2002, at Royal Court in Riverview, NB. Born in Johnville, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (McGrath) Pickard. Mr. Pickard was a decorated veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Canadian Army, and was a member of TBS #1 Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6595 and was awarded the Dollard Medal in 1993, in recognition of commitment to his church and community. He is survived by two sons, Michael (Jana) of Saskatoon and Kevin (Casandra) of Riverview; one daughter, Katherine Churchill (Tony) of White Rock, BC; two brothers, Peter Pickard and Walter Pickard, both of Johnville, NB; one sister, Christine Lavoie of Fredericton; six grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and Frederick and sisters, Eileen, Dorita, Theresa and Kathleen. By request there will be no visiting at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joachim's Church, Saint John, on Saturday, October 19, 2002 at 10:00 AM. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Oliver Joseph Polchies, died peacefully at the Carleton Manor on Tuesday, June 11, 2002 in his 88th year. While serving in the 2nd World War he was predeceased by his wife Louisa (nee Sacobie) and his second wife Marie (nee Paul) in 1979. Mr. Polchies was predeceased by brothers Frank, Leo, George, Mike, Patrick and sisters Nancy Paul, Mary Jane Gould, Anne Sacobie, sons, Theodore, Ronald and Victor, also grandson Parviz. Loverna, Saskatchewan. The funeral of the late Richard E. Port, farmer of Loverna, who passed away from pneumonia Friday April 16, ? at Loverna took place from McKague's undertaking parlors on Sunday at 1:30 o'clock. Interment was made at Woodlawn cemetery. The late Mr. Port was born at Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England, February 8, 1858. Coming with his family to Canada in 1861 he lived in Woodstock, New Brunswick and later at Glassville, N.B. In 1910 he came to Saskatchewan and since that time has farmed in the Loverna district. The deceased by his kindly and sympathetic nature, keen interest in the welfare of others and high moral character made many friends and won the esteem of those who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow, who was
formerly Miss Georgia Lovely of G;lassville, N.B.; a daughter Mrs. J.A. Underwood of Saskatoon; two sisters, Miss Susie A. Port of Saskatoon and Mrs. E. McIntosh of Glassville, N.B. and one brother, Mr. J.W. Port of Casselton, North Dakota.

"After an illness that began the first of the year with influenza Beulah Shaw Ptolmey, wife of Frank P. Ptolmey, died yesterday in her home, 2704 Leonard Dr. She was 20 years old and leaves a son, Ralph Ptolmey, age three. Mrs. Ptolmey was born at Carlisie [sic], New Brunswick, Canada, but spent most of her life in this county. She was a graduate of the high school in Snohomish. She belonged to the Yeomen. Besides her husband and son, she is survived by her mother Mrs. C.M. Shaw, and a sister Miss Isabel Shaw both of the Holton hotel. The funeral with the Christian Science ritual will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from Maulby's. Mrs. Ptolmey will be buried in the GAR cemetery at Snohomish."

Franklin G. Purington, Woodstock, NB on January 1, 2002 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Survived by his wife Elaine (Nason) Purington. Daughters, RoseAnne Owens, Edmonton; Debra Von Drasek, Winnipeg; Janice Friesen, Calgary; Charlotte Purington, Woodstock; Catherine Hunter, Trenton; Denise Jordan, Edmonton. Sons, Donald Purington, Moose Jaw; John Purington, Winnipeg; Dana Purington, Hinton, Alberta. sisters, Linda Purington and Judy Liles both of Dallas. Step-daughters, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Franklin was predeceased by his parents john and Elva (Ivey) Purington, son Franklin Douglas Purington. Resting at The Culberson Funeral Home, 188 Connell Street, Woodstock with visiting hours on Thursday, January 3, 2002 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral to be held on Friday, January 4, 2002 from The Culberson Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. If so desired, donations can be made to the Carleton County Animal Shelter or the New Brunswick Lung Association.

Of Woodstock, formerly of Jacksonville passed away at Carleton Memorial Hospital in Woodstock on Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the age of 97. Rowena is survived by two sons, Ronald Purinton and his wife Phyllis of Florenceville, NB. and Vear Purinton and his wife Una of Woodstock, NB; She is also survived by one brother, Basil Crouse of Woodstock, NB; one sister, Ruby Stiles of Hartland; NB; several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Martha (Rideout) Crouse and her husband W. Benn Purinton. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, NB.,with visitation on Sunday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 2:00 pm from Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Paul Wellwood will be officiating, with interment in the Baptist Cemetery, McKenkie Corner, NB.
