KEILTY, ELIZABETH (BETTE)
Of Woodstock, passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in
Fredericton, on Monday, January 5, 2004, at the age of 89. Bette
is survived by one grandson John Wait (Donna) of Fredericton; two
great grandchildren Megan and Alexander Wait; nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Murray and daughter Marion
Wait. Resting at The Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street,
Woodstock, NB with visiting on Wednesday 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. Funeral
service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. from Scott Funeral
Home. Rev. Fred Snyder will be officiating, with interment in the

KELLY, Dr. Charles W.-
Funeral services were held for Dr. Charles W. Kelly with Requiem
Mass at St. Anthony's Church. Priests officiating were Rev.
B.F. McMahon, J. Mooney, R.J. Riley, G. Riley, W. Coughlan, J.
Smith, C. DeCourcey, Msgr. Donald Duffle, Msgr. J.B. Ward and Rev.
R. Munro.
Entombment took place in St. Anthony's Cemetery vault. Honary
pallbearers were Sen. F.A. McGrand, L. Nobert Theriault, Dr.
Stephen Weyman, Dr. Lauchlan MacPherson, Dr. A.M. Clarke, Dr. G.E.
Maddison, Loyd Byron, Dr. Russell Collins, Dr. Rudolph F.
LeBlanc, Dr. Ian A. MacLennan, A.E. Wilby, M.M. Hoyt, Dr. Graham
Knoll, Dr. Robert Langstroth and Dr. Graham Clarkson.
Pallbearers were J.E. Anderson, Richard Palmer, Roderick Black,
Frank Berry, Joseph Swift and Charles Fisher.
Dr. Kelly, a native of St. Thomas, Carleton County was a son of the late
James and Margaret (Crabbe) Kelly. He received
his early education in St. Thomas schools, later graduating from
Teachers' College, before teaching in public schools for six
years. He enrolled in pre-medical
courses at St. Francis Xavier University and in 1943 graduated
from the Medical School of Queens University. For seven years, he
served on the staff of the Saint John Tuberculosis Hospital,
before being named medical superintendant of Jordan Memorial
Sanetorium, Riverglade, in 1948. In 1951, he took post-graduate
studies in diseases of the chest in New York, and in 1955, he was
appointed director of health planning service for the province,
and was transferred to Fredericton. In 1961, he
was appointed director of communicable diseases and cancer
control, and in 1965, following the retirement of Dr. J.A.
Melanson, was named deputy minister of health, a post he held
until his own retirement in 1969.
Dr. Kelly is survived by his wife, the former Beryl Maxwell; two
sons, James and Patrick, students at U.N.B.; a brother, Thomas,
St. Thomas, Carleton County; two sisters, Miss Anna Kelly and
Miss Faye Kelly, both of Belfast, Maine; and a number of nieces
and nephews.

KELLY, GLENNA PEARL -
Glenna Pearl Kelly passed away on January 27, 2004, at the home
of her granddaughter, in Waterville, Carleton County, N.B.. She
was 100. She was born June 17, 1903, to Dell and Eliza (Tracy)
Lawrence of Wilmot, N.B.. She is survived by daughters Jean
Barrett (Ralph), Waterville, Leatha Morrison (Jimmy), Toronto,
son Ralph of Jacksonville, 11 grandchildren, 24 great
grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren as well as several
nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband Donald,
daughter Amy Doherty (George), great grandchild Karen Doherty,
sisters Lottie Rickard, Della Bell, Effie Waters, Nellie
Carmichael, brothers William, Frank, Jim, and Archie. The Kelly's
moved from their home in Hartland to Woodville Road in West Saint
John in 1950. Donald passed away in 1984 at the age of 81 and
Glenna stayed in Saint John until 1998, when she moved to
Waterville to live with her daughter Jean. Funeral service was
held from the Carleton Funeral Home, Jacksonville, on January 28
with Reverend Maynard Rector officiating. Pallbearers were
grandchildren Larry Doherty, Ann McAffee, Ronald Barrett, Joan
Russell, Gary Kelly and nephew Lynn Lawrence. Interment to be at
the Wilmot Cemetery in the spring.

Kelly, Gertrude
KELLY - The death of Gertrude B. E. (Keenan) Kelly of 48 Everett
Street, Hampton, widow of J. Damien Kelly occurred at her
residence on Friday, September 13, 1996, while surrounded by her
family. She was born at Johnville, N.B., Daughter of the
late Thomas and Sarah (Gallagher) Keenan, she was a resident of
Hampton most of her life where she was known as a gram (grandmother)
to many and friend to all. Mrs. Kelly was a member of St.
Alphonsus Church, former member of Hampton Bowling League, former
member and past President of C.W.L., chairperson and a founding
member of Hampton Food Basket, member of Seniors 50 Plus Club and
was an active member of the Liberal Party for over 50 years.
She is survived by three daughters Catherine and her husband
David Coleman of Bloomfield, Lorna and her husband John Morrison
of Ontario, Margaret and her husband Terrance Campbell of
Kingston, N.B., one foster daughter Dorothy and her husband
Trevor Fotheringham of Saint John, one son Leo and his wife Susan
Kelly of Hampton, two sisters, Margaret Ann and her husband
Arnold Robinson of Michigan, Maureen and her husband Lawrence
Dietrich of Victoria, B.C., two brothers Edward and his wife Lois
Keenan of Grand Bay, John and his wife Rita of Johnville, N.B.,
sixteen grandchildren, Loraine Kelly, Brenda Kelly and her
husband Ian Hoyt, Timothy Kelly, Daniel and his wife Laurie
Coleman, Christine Coleman, Patrick and his wife Kim Coleman,
Cathleen Coleman, Caroline Coleman, Kevin Morrison, Darren
Campbell, Patricia Campbell, Kelly Campbell, Katie Campbell, Jeb
Kelly, Shane Kelly, three great grandchildren, Benjamin Coleman,
Jessica Coleman, Jamie Coleman, three godchildren, Susan
Chevalier, Linda Baisley, Katie Coleman and several nieces and
nephews. Mrs. Kelly was predeceased by one son Larry, one
sister Katherine, two brothers Raymond and martin and one
grandchild Colleen.
Resting at Mrs. Kelly's residence 48 Everett Street, Hampton.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
The funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. from St.
Alphonsus Church. Interment will be from St. Alphonsus
Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Canadian Cancer Society,
Hampton Food Basket or donor's choice would be appreciated.

M. Faye Kelly
The death
of Miss M. Faye Kelly occurred at the Eastern Main[e] Medical
Centre, Bangor, following a long illness. She was born at St. Thomas,
Carleton County,
a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Crabbe) Kelly. After teaching school
for a few years, she entered the field of nursing until her
retirement.
She is
survived by one brother, Thomas of St. Thomas and two nephews,
James Kelly of Gander, Nfld., and Dr. C. Patrick Kelly of
Toronto, Ont. She was predeceased by one sister, Anna, and
four brothers, Lewis, Clinton, Donald and Dr. Charles W. Kelly. Funeral mass was held at St.
Gertrude's Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Bernard F. MacMahon
officiating.
Pallbearers
were William Campbell, Wilfred Markey, Francis Campbell, Clarence
Caldwell, Douglas Kilfoil and Fred Kilfoil. Entombment was in the Community
Vault, Woodstock. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure
Cemetery, Lakeville, in the spring.

Kelly, James
The death occurred on the 5th inst., of Mr. James Kelly, a life-long
resident of St. Thomas. Although in failing health for some
years, his death was quite sudden. Besides his wife who was
formerly Miss Crabb of Quebec, seven young children are left to
mourn their sad loss.

KELLY, James Donald-
The death of James Donald Kelly occurred at his home, St. Thomas,
Carleton County on November 5 after a lengthy illness. Born at St.
Thomas, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (Crabbe)
Kelly.
For the past 32 years he had resided in Detroit, Mich. where he
had been an active member of St. Mary's Parish, Royal Oak, and a
member of the Holy Name Society. He is survived by two
sisters, Miss Anna R. Kelly, R.N. and Miss M. Faye Kelly, R.N. of
Belfast, Maine; two brothers, Dr. Charles W. Kelly, Fredericton
and Thomas R. Kelly at home, also two nephews, James and Patrick
Kelly, Fredericton. The funeral was held from his late home
to St. Bonaventure's Church, Lakeville, where High Mass of
Requiem was celebrated by Rev. E. John Higgins. Interment
was in the adjoining cemetery with prayers at the grave by Father
Higgins.

KELLY, Mrs. Margaret -
The sudden death occurred in St. Thomas of Mrs. Margaret Kelly,
widow of James Kelly and daughter of the late Richard and
Sarah Crabbe, Debec, N.B. Mrs. Kelly was happiest
in her home ministering to her family whose interests always came
first. She leaves to mourn four sons and two daughters,
Donald in Detroit, Clinton and Thomas at home, Dr. Charles of the
East Saint John Hospital, Anna, superintendent of the Bradbury
Memorial Hospital, Belfast, Maine, Faye, R.N. who works with her
sister in Belfast but who was with her mother at the time of her
death. The funeral was Requiem Mass celebrated by Rev. F. L.
Carney. Interment was in the family lot in the adjoining
cemetery. Many spiritual bouquets were received. The
pall bearers were William Campbell, Ross Hammons, Benjamin DeLong
and Bernard Travis.

KELLEY, Hazel A.,
92
CARIBOU - Hazel A. Kelley, 92, wife of the late Ralph
Kelley, died Aug. 21, 2001, at Caribou. She was born in
Woodstock, N.B., Canada, Oct. 25, 1908, the daughter of Percy and Lula (Thompkins)
Sisson.
She was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. Mrs.
Kelley was a member of the Gray Memorial United Methodist Church,
Elizabeth Chapter OES and the Rebecca Lodge. Hazel grew up in
Perth Andover, N.B. until she met a nice young man, Ralph Kelley,
from Caribou, whom she married March 27, 1929, after arriving on
the Canadian Pacific train, getting off at the crossing, walking
down to the farm, where she met Ralph by the barn door. There she
would spend her life making a home for the family. Ralph and
Hazel had 61 years of marriage before his death in 1990. Hazel
loved to travel and was always ready to go. She did a variety of
needlework, but most of all, she loved to cook. She was always
trying new recipes and had a wonderful collection of cookbooks.
Her family and friends enjoyed many fine meals around the kitchen
table and will continue to do so from her "secrets"
that she shared with them. She leaves behind many fond memories
for her family of the days on the Kelley Farm on the Fort Road.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and
Helen Kelley, Harvey and Carolyn Kelley, all of Caribou; one
foster son and daughter-in-law, Harold "Skish" and Mary
Ouellette of Caribou; one brother and sister-in-law, Spurgeon and
Letha Sisson of Woodstock, N.B.; nine grandchildren, Stephen
Chike and his wife, Polly, Rodney Nichols and his wife, Kelly,
Ricky Schwagan and his wife, Michelle, Kathy McGlaughlin and her
husband, Joe, Carrie Lee and her husband, Dan, Amy, Donnie,
Kimberly and Jonathan Kelley; 11 great-grandchildren, R.J. and
Whitney Nichols, Josh, Michael and Max Schwagen, Ryan, Matthew
and Tess McGlaughlin, Ben Kelley, Desiree Kelley and Jondalyn
Murchison; a son-in-law, Wayne Nichols of Caribou; several nieces
and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter, Colleen "Cookie"
Nichols; a sister, Edith Faloon; four brothers, Clarence,
William, Harry and Basil Sisson; and a great-grandchild, Sean
Amos Lee. Friends may call at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24
Reservoir St., Caribou, 7-9 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be
held 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, from the Gray Memorial
United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lynne Josselyn, pastor,
officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends who
wish to contribute in memory of Mrs. Kelley, may do so through
the Shriners Hospital Carew Street, Springfield, Mass. 01001.

Leonard Kelloway, 86, of Centreville passed away on Monday
evening at the Northern Carleton Hospital Bath. Leonard is
survived by daughters Linda (Reuben) Burtt of Medicine Hat, AB,
Barb (Rodney) Smith of Wicklow and Sandy (Scott) Taylor of
Williamstown, 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, special
friend Muriel Brown. Remains resting at Kilcollins Chapel,
Florenceville, visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services
will be held on Friday at 1PM from Kilcollins Chapel
Florenceville. Rev. Chris Van Buskirk officiating. Interment will

Mills, Maine; Richard Armour (Dorothy) Vancouver, BC; one sister,

Passed away on January 18, 2003 at the Carleton Memorial
Hospital, she was 84. Kathleen (Strong) Kennedy of Mackenzie
Corner, N.B. was born on June 1, 1918 to the late Alfred and Katie (Dalling)
Strong. She is survived by
her son, Eugene (Noreen) Kennedy of Mackenzie Corner, N.B.; four
grandchildren Carl (Donna) Kennedy, Gina Kennedy (Doug Albert),
Mary (Neil) Carr and Beth (Scott) Paul; four great grandchildren
Adam and Alicia Kennedy, Kyla Carr and Cordell Paul, as well as
many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her
husband Clayton Kennedy. Resting at the Carleton Funeral Home,
337 Lockhart Mill Rd. Jacksonville, N.B. where friends may call 2-4
& 7-9 pm on Monday, January 20, 2003. Funeral Service will be

KENNEY, C.D., MAX CECIL Peacefully at the Brantford General
Hospital on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 in his 87th year, Max; beloved
father of Susan and Wayne, both of Brantford and Jacqueline of
Maine; cherished grandfather of Mark Swanson, Shawn and Laura
Kenney, and Mackani Kenny-Hall, great grandfather of Paige and
Daniel. Max will also be sadly missed by his family and friends.
He was a proud Veteran of the Second World War serving in Italy.
He was a member of the Carleton York Regiment, New Brunswick, a
Sergeant of the 56th Field Regiment in Brantford, a member of the
D-Day Dodgers, and a longstanding member of St. Paul's Anglican
Church, Brantford. The family wish to express their appreciation
to the caring staff of the Brantford General Hospital and Versa
Care for the compassion and support they offered to Dad and our
family during this time. Visitation will be held at Kilcollins
Chapel, Florenceville on Monday, April 15th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from the
Anglican Church of the Good Shepherd, Florenceville with Rev.
Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Interment will take place in the
Church Cemetery.

KILFOIL, SISTER CLARA B. - The death of Sister Clara B. Kilfoil (Sr.
Mary Bernarda) of Ruth Ross Residence, occurred at her residence
on Saturday, January 26, 2002. Born in Johnville, N.B., she was a daughter of the late William J.
and Martha (O'Connor) Kilfoil.
She entered the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception
on December 8, 1938. Sister Kilfoil received her Bachelor of Arts
Degree from U.N.B. Fredericton. Her teaching career spanned more
than forty years many of which were spent in New Brunswick at
Moncton, Silver Falls, West Saint John, and Maliseet. She also
taught in Venosta, and Farrellton, Quebec. While in British
Columbia, Sister taught at St. Frances School in Vancouver, and
Holy Cross School in Burnaby. Following her retirement from
teaching she was involved in catechetics, parish visiting, RCIA
and the Legion of Mary. Sister was particularly dedicated to her
work with the Greater Saint John Literacy Council. She retired to
Ruth Ross Residence in August of 1994. She is survived by two
sisters-in-law, Mrs. Rita (Louis) Kilfoil, and Mrs. Eugenie (Jack)
Kilfoil, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by
six brothers, Vincent Kilfoil, Murray Kilfoil, Jack Kilfoil, Leo
Kilfoil, Thomas Kilfoil, and Louis Kilfoil, five sisters Helen (Mrs.
Joseph Mahoney), Loretta (Mrs. Joseph Colton), Mamie (Mrs. Daniel
Hannigan), Florence (Mrs. Leo Guest) and Gertrude (Mrs. Frank
Toner). Resting at St. Vincent\rquote s Convent, 31 Cliff St.,
from where the funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11:45 am to the
Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for Mass of Christian
Burial at 12:00 o\rquote clock. Interment will take place in the
Sisters of Charity plot at St. Joseph\rquote s Cemetery. Visiting
on Monday 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. Vespers will be held on Monday
evening at 7 pm.

KILFOIL, MARY LOUISE -
On December 15, 2003 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital
Fredericton, Mary Louise Kilfoil of Florenceville passed away
after a courageous battle at the age of 44. Born in Bath on
September 4, 1959, Mary was the daughter of the late Thomas and
Seretha (McQuade) Kilfoil. Mary is survived by sisters, Francena
(Philip) Dugan of Moose Mountain, Josephine Burke of Saint John,
Clara (Ray) Cavanaugh of Peterborough, On. Dorothy (Gary) Foster
of Moose Mountain, Connie (Stephen) DeMerchant of Plaster Rock,
Sheila Kilfoil Alexander of Saint John, Sharon Templeton of
Beechwood, Alma (Fred) Allen of Bristol and Trudy (Drake) Rogers
of Bristol, brothers, Paul Kilfoil of Peterborough, On. and Doug
(Maureen) Kilfoil of Johnville, several nieces, nephews and
cousins. Resting at Kilcollins Funeral Home Bath with visiting
Tuesday 7-9pm and Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. Mass of Christian
Burial will be celebrated on Thursday December 18, 2003 from St.

Rita Lillian Kilfoil (McIsaac) of Johnville passed away at the
age of 91. Survived by daughters Dr. Martha Kilfoil (Francesco)
of Asheville, NC, and Monica (Jeff) Whitridge of Calgary, sons
Kevin (Ann) of Sussex, Terry (Nancy) of Rothesay, Bert (Mary) of
Johnville, Ben (Lynne) of Woodstock, Desmond (Lavonne) of
Calgary, Edward (Donna) of Mill River, PEI, sisters Sarah
Chatterton of Saint John, and Madelyn Gallivan of Niagara Falls,
several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Predeceased by her
husband Louis in 1998. Resting at Kilcollins Funeral Home Bath,
visiting Monday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be
celebrated Tuesday June 4, 2002 at 11 am from St. John the
Evangelist Church, Johnville, Father Keith Nielsen officiating.
Interment will follow in the Johnville Cemetery. Memorial

The death of Mr. Ralph Franklyn Kilpatrick, of 152 St. Pauls
Street, Hampton, husband of Lynda (Stevens) Kilpatrick, occurred
on Wednesday, January 2, 2002, at his residence. Born in
Florenceville, NB, he was the only son of the late John and Mildred (Burmingham)
Kilpatrick. In his younger
years, Mr. Kilpatrick was employed at the Bank of Nova Scotia and
SMT, and then began a career in Trucking, and most recently was
employed with RST Industries. He was also a former member of the
Masonic Lodge in Hartland. Besides his wife, he is survived by
his sons, Frederick of Saint John, Stanley (Kim) of Woodstock,
NB, Stephen (Wanda) of Saint John, Robert "Bob" (Valerie)
of Baxter's Corner and David (Bonnie) of Truro, NS, 9
grandchildren, Gregory, Shaun, Theresa, Jennifer, Patricia,
Michael, Amy, Jody and Kendra, 3 great grand-daughters, Raven,
Carisma and McKenzie and three cousins. Resting at Brenan's
Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424),
with visiting on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral

KINNEY, Alice E.,

LINCOLN - Alice E. Kinney, 81, died at a Lincoln health-care
facility after a long illness. She was born in Danforth, July 25,
1919, the daughter
of George and Elizabeth (Robinson) Briggs. She was retired after 15 years
of service at the McCain Food Processing Company in
Florenceville, N.B. She was also a very faithful member of the
Community Evangel Temple in Lincoln. She was predeceased by her
parents, husband and siblings. She is survived by several nieces
and nephews, many very special nurses and others at Colonial
Healthcare Facility; special friends, Lois and Earl Wing. A
graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Friday in Florenceville, N.B.
with the Rev. Timothy Shaw officiating. Arrangements by Clay
Funeral Home, Lincoln.

KILPATRICK, VIVIAN-
Mrs. Vivian Kilpatrick passed away on Friday May 2nd, 2003 at the
Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Johnville, NB on November 2nd,
1918. She was the daughter of the late George Ryan and Agnes (O\rquote
Heron) Ryan. Vivian is survived by Sidney, her beloved husband of
49 years, five children; David of Calgary, Audrey Sullivan (Paul)
of Florenceville, Daryl (Cheyenne) of Saint John Regena Watson (Allison)
of Dartmouth and Monica of Saint John. Nine grandchildren; Emily,
Maggie, Ann Katherine, Sean Sullivan, Kyle and Matthew
Kilpatrick, Patrick, Andrew and Kathleen Watson. Two sisters,
Mildred Morin of Mississauga and Gertrude McLaughlin of
Fredericton. Predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence and Joseph
Ryan, two sisters Monica Cronin and Eileen Crain. Vivian was a
former member of the legion of Mary, Catholic Women\rquote s
League, loving mother and grandmother. Resting at Fundy Funeral
Home, 230 Westmorland Rd, Saint John, NB. (646-2424) with
visitation on Monday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Tuesday, May 6th,
2003 at 12: 00 pm with Father Phillips & Father Weiss
officiating. Interment will take place at Saint Joseph\rquote s
Cemetery. Memorials to the Stella Maris Renovation Fund, The
Canadian Mental Health Association, or to the charity of the
donor\rquote s choice would be appreciated by the family.

CARLTON SENTINAL DECEMBER 31, 1920 WOODSTOCK,NB,CANADA
The word of the death of A. R. Knight in the Fisher
Hospital, Wednesday morning was heard with surprise and sorrow.
He had been ailing for some time and went to the hospital
Saturday when it was found necessary to operate. Mr. Knight was a
returned soldier and a valued employe of A.W. Clark, harness
maker. He belongs in Hartland and is survived by his wife and
seven children. The body was taken to Hartland and the funeral
held Thursday afternoon. Grandfather was a Lance Corporal and
served in the Boer War and WW1. He was born Nov.22,1872 in
Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England to Benjamin Knight a carpenter
and Sarah Winn a straw plaiter. He entered the Army in 1891, and
married Anne Gallagher in 1897. They emigrated to Canada in 1910.
Grandmother Knight came to the US in 1927 all the children also
came down at different times. Grandfather`s name sake Arthur
Robert also served in the WW1 with the Canadian Black Watch.

Death of A. R.
Knight
At the Fisher Memorial Hospital the death occurred of Arthur
Robert Knight sr following an operation the week before. Mr.
Knight came to New Brunswick from London, England ten years
ago. He was 43 years of age and a veteran of both the South
Africia war and the great world war and in the later he was
severely wounded. He had been continually under medical treatment
since his discharge and his death followed the fourth operation
consequent upon his wounding. He is survived by his wife, five
sons and two daughters. The bereaved family have the sympathy of
the community. The funeral takes place
at Holy Trinity church today. Rev. N.Franchette conducting the
service.
