Eric Arnold Bailey of Hartland passed away at the Carleton Manor in Woodstock on Friday, February 7, 2003. He was born in Sawyerville, Quebec on March 8, 1916. He is survived by his wife Ethel (Christian) Bailey of Hartland, sons, Ian (Joanie) Bailey of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kevin (Michele) Bailey of Okotokos, Alberta, Margaret (Robert) Van Dine of Woodstock, and four grandchildren. Resting at the Britton Funeral Home, High Street, Hartland with visiting hours on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A legion service will be held on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Monday at the Lorne Britton Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery at later date. BAIER, JESSIE ISABEL
The death of Jessie Isabel Baier of Fredericton, formerly of Woodstock, wife of the late Hughie Baier occurred on December 25, 2003 at the York Manor Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. Born in Charleston, NB on May 11, 1915, she was a daughter of the late George and Eva (Ketch) DeLong. Mrs. Baier is survived by two daughters, Treva Walker (Ronald) of Fredericton and Linda Baier of Fredericton; 11 grandchildren, Jim McCloskey, Cathy Calhoun, Susan Nicholson, Jennifer Walker, Michael Sheng, Orland DeLong, Debbie Clifford, William DeLong, Donald DeLong, Joy DeLong and Sally Carr; numerous great grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley DeLong (Marie) of Fredericton and Wendall DeLong (Shirley) of Woodstock; two sisters, Azlee Cook of Woodstock and Velma Britton of Woodstock; special nephew, Waldo Shaw (Doreen) and several other nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by one son, Lloyd DeLong; one grandson, Chris DeLong; two brothers, Earl and Elmer DeLong; three sisters, Florence Miller, Alma Shaw and Ruth Dickinson. Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Saturday 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2003 at 2 pm from the Marysville Baptist Church, 150 Cowperthwaite Street, Fredericton, NB with Rev. David DuBois and Mr. Peter G. Somerville (Director of Pastoral Care - York Manor Nursing Home) officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the Marysville Baptist Cemetery. BANKS, ARNOLD BARRY Arnold Barry Banks, age 72, of Riverbank Carleton Co., NB, passed away at the Northern Carleton Hospital, Bath on February 21, 2002. Born in Florenceville. Survived by his wife Norma, two sons, James (Sandra) and Carol (Suzanne), one daughter Nancy (John) Brown, four grandchildren, one sister Dorothy (Gardiner) Catelle of Hartland, one uncle Kenneth Banks of Ft. Fairfield, ME. Predeceased by
his parents Freeman and Eska (Doherty) Banks and one sister Norma Shaw. No visiting hours by request of the family. Funeral service will be held at Kilcollins Chapel, Florenceville on Sunday, February 24, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Les Johnston officiating. On July 14, 1997, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Mary Monica Beckett of Ellerdale Street.  Born at Moose Mountain, Carleton County. 
Daughter of the late Harold and Marion (Pierce) McCullough and wife of the late Cyril Beckett.  She had been employed at MRA's for a number of years.  She is survived by two sons, Robert Allison of Moncton and James Cyril and his wife Wendy of Fredericton, a daughter Donna Merritt and her husband Reginald of Bloomfield, three brothers, Cecil of Oshawa, Joseph of Oshawa, and James of Halifax, three sisters, Nora McCullough of Saint John, Alice Higgins of Fredericton, and Anna Van Sanvoort, two grandchildren Matthew and Ian, as well as many nieces and nephews. BELL, FRANK ELBRIDGE - Frank Elbridge Bell of Houlton, Maine died February 2, 2003 at the age of 86. He was born on February 12, 1916 in the Irish Settlement, New Brunswick, Canada, and was predeceased by his wife, Doris (Van Dine) Bell,
his parents Elbridge and Irene (Smith) Bell and his brother David A. Bell. He is survived by his daughters Irene Joyce of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Nancy E. Bell of Houlton, Maine and one son Lawrence F. Bell of Houlton, Maine. He has five grandchildren, Deirdre Joyce of Madison, Wisconsin, Ellen (William) Snapko of New Hope, Minnesota, Kathleen (Sean) Sinkfield of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, and Nathan and Ian Bell of St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He also has four great grandchildren, Sean, Ailee, Maeve and Sage. In 1933, Frank with his father and brother founded Bell\rquote s Service Station, in Houlton, Maine later called Bell\rquote s Store. This business was an important part of his life. Bell\rquote s of Houlton existed for 70 of his 86 years. Family will receive friends at the Scott Funeral Home, 815 Main Street, Woodstock, N.B. on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2003 at 2 p.m. from Scott Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. BELL, JAMES ALEXANDER
The late James A. Bell of Bristol passed away on December 27, 1968 at the Northern Carleton Hospital due to a heart seizure at the age of 75. Mr. Bell was born in Glassville on July 4, 1893. He was the s
on of the late James Bell and Margaret(Campbell) Bell. The greater part of his life was spent in the Glassville area. For the last sixteen years he has resided in Bristol. He is survived by his wife Bernice (Giggie) Bell; three sons, Clarence and Bonar of Oshawa, Ontario and Arthur of Chipman, N.B.; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. William Sweet of Bath, N.B. ; several nieces and nephews; also a daughter-in-law, Barbara of Kitchener, Ontario. One sister Mrs. James Lovely of Glassville predeceased him several years ago. One son, Russell E. Bell predeceased him 16 years ago in Kitchener, Ontario. Funeral services for the late Mr. Bell were held on Monday, December 30, 1968 from his late home to the United Baptist Church of Bristol conducted by Rev. Philip Giberson assisted by Rev. Carl Price. Hymns rendered by Mrs. Elaine White and Sandra McLean were " Abide With Me, " Where Roses Never Fade, " and " Beautiful Isle of Somewhere. " Organist was Mrs. Philip Giberson. Pallbearers were Gordon Saunders, Ronald McDougall, Alva Giggie, James Derrah, Fred Lamont and Jack Dickinson, friends of the deceased. Many floral tributes, donations to the Gideon Bible, Heart Fund, The United Church of Glassville and personal donations were received. Funeral director was Fred Kilcollins. Interment was in the Bristol Community Cemetery.

Jane Bernard died peacefully at her residence in Woodstock, New Brunswick on Friday, February 20, 2004. She was in her 89th year. Daughter of the late Dr. George Frederick Clarke and Mary Schubert Clarke of Woodstock, Jane is survived by her daughter Mary Bernard (Ian Fleming), Cambridge, England; son Ian Bernard (Janie Logan), Ottawa; grandchildren Thetis (Chris) Kruger, Drew Bernard and Bronwynn Bernard and great grandchildren Cailean Bernard and Ryland Bernard-Kruger, all of Ottawa; a sister Dees Homer, Woodstock; brother Frederick (Dorothy) Clarke, Woodstock; nephew Stephen (Anne) Homer and grand nieces Zoe and Lea Homer, Montreal; and nephews George Frederick Clarke, Calgary, and Robin Clarke, Victoria. Following cremation, friends may visit at the Carleton Funeral Home, 337 Lockhart Mill Road, Jacksonville on Tuesday, February 24 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 8:00 pm. A service celebrating Jane's life will be held in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 25. No flowers, please, by Jane's request. Passed away at the Carleton Memorial Hospital on October 11, 2003 at the age of 86. Wallace Bird, of Avondale, N.B., was born on November 4, 1916 to the late Wellington and Marion (McGill) Bird. He is survived by his wife, Norma (Rosborough) Bird, brothers-in-law, Donald, Fred, Robert (Jane), and George Rosborough, 2 special nephews Larry and Brian Rosborough, and 2 great-nephews, Jake and Luke Rosborough. He was predeceased by his brother, Malcolm Bird. Resting at the Carleton Funeral Home in Jacksonville, N.B. where friends my call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2003. BISHOP, GEORGIA MAY (LOVELY)
The sudden passing away of Mrs. Floyd Bishop of Glassville, N.B. on March 17, 1931 at the age of 33 years cast a gloom over the community in which she lived. Mrs. Bishop had not enjoyed good health for some time and recently contracted pneumonia and suddenly passed away. By her demise she leaves to mourn her husband, two little daughters, Natalie and Shirley, aged 8 and 10 years; two sisters, Mrs. Everett Bishop of Presque Isle, Mrs Fred McBrine of Glassville,; three brothers, William and Arleigh Lovely of Glassville, Norris of Fort Fairfield, also father and mother,
Mr. & Mrs. James Lovely of Glassville and many friends and near relatives. A very large funeral service for the deceased was conducted by Rev. A. Hatfield of Bristol in the United Church at Glassville. Many beautiful flowers were laid upon the casket by friends and relatives. Interment was made in Glassville Cemetery. Bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of the community.

BISHOP, JENNIE ESTHER (LOVELY)
Jennie E. Bishop, 85, of Presque Isle, Maine died January 19, 1979 at a local hospital. She was born Jan. 1, 1894 at Glassville, N.B. Canada, the
daughter of James and Etta(Bell) Lovely. She married Everett Bishop on Jan. 2, 1918 at Woodstock, N.B. Her husband died July 30, 1978. Mrs. Bishop was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. She is survived by three sons, Dana H. Bishop of Presque Isle; Neil E. Bishop of Bangor and Vaughn E. Bishop of Thermal, California; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Jan. 21 at Graves Funeral Home. The Rev. Michael Davis officiated. Burial will be in Green Ridge Cemetery at Caribou in the spring.

She was born June 5, 1912 at Cloverdale, NB Canada the
daughter of John and Sadie (Hunter) Nason.
Marietta is survived by a son, Mahlon Bither and his wife, Joyce of Presque Isle; four grandchildren, Debbie Kierstead, Darcy McBay, Dana Bither and Denise Eldridge; six great-grandchildren.

Of Kingston, Ontario, widow of Frank D. Boles, died January 21, 2002 at St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Kingston, Ontario. She was born in Glassville, N.B., daughter of the late Frederick and Aurilla (Doherty) Elliot. Emily worked for Alcan in Kingston, Ontario for many years. She is survived by two sisters, Mary Marshall (Herbert) of Willowdale, Ontario and Maude Mooers (Fred) of Houlton, Maine. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews and will be sadly missed. She was predeceased by sisters, Jessie Welch, Margaret Boles, Gladys Forbes and brother Frederick Elliot of N.B. Visitation at James Reid Funeral Home, Kingston, Ontario was followed by cremation and a memorial service on February 6, 2002. A graveside service will be held at Kiersteadville Cemetery, Monday, May 20, 2002 at 2:00pm. Memorials to the Lung Association would be appreciated by the family. BOURQUE, RUTH MARGARET Ruth Margaret Bourque, of Moncton, passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at the age of 77 years. Born in Hartland, NB on June 25, 1924 she was the daughter of the late Myles and Maggie (Long) Sherwood. She was a Dietary Supervisor at the Woodstock Hospital. Also, she worked for McCains Food Ltd. She is survived by her Husband Frank Raymond Bourque; one Son; Chester Frank Bourque of Moncton, NB; sisters; Alice Severey of Augusta Maine and Maude Swim of Waterville, NB. Besides her parents she was predeceased by three sisters and six brothers. There will be no visitation, or funeral service at the Funeral Home. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in the spring. Kyle L. Bragdon of Hartfield passed away March 27, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital as a result of injuries received in a car accident at Rossville. BRENEOL, LORING JOSEPH (MIKE) -
The death of Loring J. Breneol of Fredericton, NB occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmer's Hospital on Monday, October 27th, 2003. "Mike" as he was commonly known was born in Woodstock, NB. He was the son of the late Clement and Dorothy (Wandless) Breneol and husband of Dorothy (Doyle) Breneol. Following his discharge from the Royal Canadian Air Force at the end of World War II, Mike obtained an Engineering Certificate from St. Francis Xavier University, and later his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the Nova Scotia Technical College in 1952. Immediately after graduation, Mike joined NB Power where he remained until his retirement in 1987. For many years, Mike had been active as a lay minister at St. Dunstan's Church. He was also a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers of the Province of New Brunswick. Mike was a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; sons, Bruce of Orangeville, ON, Paul (Mary Ellen Vaughan) of Fredericton, NB, Michael (Samantha) of Grand Bay, NB; daughters Lori Breneol of Fredericton, NB, Joanne Breneol of Westfield, NB; two grandchildren, Taylor and Hannah and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; brothers, Clement and John "Jack" and sister, Helen Bull. Mrs. Edith Page Brooks, of Sussex, New Brunswick, passed away at her residence April 21, 2002. Born in Charleston, NB on November 20, 1898. Edith was the daughter of the late John J. and Charlotte Alice Lipsett and the beloved wife of the late Senator Alfred J. Brooks who passed away in 1967. Edith is the loving mother of Kenneth M. Brooks of Sussex, NB and Dr. Alfred J. Brooks and his wife Donna of Mississauga, Ontario, Beloved grandmother of Lesley Brooks of Montreal, Kenneth of Burlington, Ontario, Alfred of Cambridge, Ontario, Alfred of Guelph, Ontario, Ian and Grant of Toronto, Ontario and Great-grandmother of Michelle and Stephanie of Burlington, Elizabeth and Megan of Guelph and Amanda of Toronto, a loving sister to Helen Sansom of Moncton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her life is a tapestry of memories, which are a reflection of her hard work and dedication to her community. At the age of 8, Edith and her family left Centerville for Denver where she remained until her graduation from South Denver High School in 1914. Edith returned home and graduated from Provincial Normal School in Fredericton in 1916, after graduation she taught in Tracey Mills and Victoria Corners and in 1921 she became principal in Apohaqui. The following year Edith continued her education at Mount Allison University where she studied music and home economics. Edith finished her education at the NB Teachers College. Later moving to Sussex where she taught English and Home Economics at the Sussex High School from 1922-1926. In 1923 she married Alfred (A.J.) Brooks who was the school inspector at the time. He later became a lawyer, then a partner with Judge Harry Jonah of Sussex. He was elected the PC Member of Parliament for Fundy in 1935 until 1960, when Hon. John Diefenbaker called him to senate. Edith gave up her teaching career in 1926 never to return. She dedicated her time and energy to her family and in organizing A.J.'s election campaigns. Edith was a founding member of the Sussex Women's Institute, the Sussex I.O.D.E. and in World War II was president of the Sussex Red Cross. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where the family will be receiving relatives and friends on Friday evening from 7-9. The Funeral Service will be held from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Hubert Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at Kirk Hill Cemetery. She is also survived by four sisters, Edna, Georgina, Isabel and Avis, and three brothers, Henry, Clarence, and John. She was predeceased by her husband, George; infant daughters, Nora, Nancy and Cheryl; brothers, Austin, Fred, Sandy, Donald, Edward, Alton; and sisters, Elsie, Shirley and Anna. The body rested at Kilcollins Funeral Home in Bath and funeral service was held January 8 at Glassville United Church with Rev. Robert McCarthy officiating and assisted by Rev. Kenny Stoddard, who did the eulogy. Her granddaughter, Amanda Forsythe, sang Amazing Grace and Rev. Eric Smith sang In the Garden and Lord, I'm Coming Home. Pallbearers were six of her grandsons; Frank, Michael and Darren Forsythe, Robert Brooks, Justin and Shane Brooks and great-nephew Tovy Clendenning. Other grandchildren are Tammy and Shawn Mador, Melinda Brooks and Robin and Katie Brooks. Many floral tributes and memorials were received. Internment will take place in Glassville United Church cemetery in the spring.

Brownlow, John
Pembroke lost one of its oldest and highly respected residents in the death Tuesday, Feb. 21st, 1939, of John  Brownlow, at his home, in his 93rd year.  He had been in failing health for some time.  He leaves to mourn a widow, and six children.  Mrs. Tilley Parker {Ella}, Northampton; Mrs. John Patterson {Ethel}, Newburg; Mrs. Earl Moody, Houlton; Arthur Brownlow, Ludlow, Maine;  Allison Brownlow, Redding, Calif.; Zenas, at home; one sister, Mrs. Moses Shaw, Wakefield.  His youngest sister, Mrs. Ella J. Eaton, Lakestive, Washington; predeceased him the 4th day of September, 1938.  He leaves 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Marjorie Somerville Burlock, and their children; Ellen Virgint and husband Douglas, Della DeMerchant and husband Richard, Hazen Allison Burlock Jr. and wife Sandra, Jeffrey Oland Burlock and wife Tammy. He is also survived by grandchildren, Danny Virgint, Marilyn Cadotte, Lance, Aaron and Sara DeMerchant, Benjamin and Alexander Burlock and Timothy, Jillian, Rebekah and Nathaniel Burlock, and one great grandchild, Jenny Cadot. Rev. Burlock also is survived by brother Wendell Burlock of Font Hill, Ontario and sister, Elzena Clark of Chatham, Ontario, and brother-in-law, Oland Somerville. The Reverend Hazen Burlock was born in Bannon, New Brunswick on June 05, 1921 and is predeceased by brothers George and Elbridge. Bull, George Allen,
On Monday, June 8th, 1914 after an illness of about a month, there passed away at his home in Grafton, one of Northampton's oldest citizens in the person of G. A. Bull, in his 80th year.
George Allen Bull was the eldest son of the late Warren C. Bull and a grandson of Capt. George Bull, a United Empire Loyalist, and one of the first men to fall a tree in what is now Carleton Co.
His mother was the formerly Miss Caroline Perley, a sister of the Hon. Chas. Perley, well known in the earlier days of Woodstock.
Mr. Bull was ever known as a careful and thrifty farmer and after acquiring a competence retired from his farm and for the last ten years has been living quietly in Grafton.
He leaves one daughter, Miss Alice, and four sons, Warren, Horace, and Milton, at home, and Allen in the West. Chas. P. Bull is a brother of the deceased.

GUILFORD - Glen E. Burgess, 77, died Aug. 15, 2001, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. He was born July 22, 1924, in Guilford, son of Elton and Eva (Crabtree) Burgess. He graduated from Guilford High School, class of 1942. After graduation, Glen joined the Army Air Corps. He graduated from gunnery school and flew B-17s with the 391st Bomb Group as a tail gunner. Glen flew more combat missions over Europe than any other airman from the State, receiving many commendations. He married Lorraine Lewis on July 24, 1948, who predeceased him in 1980. Glen was a well-known carpenter and builder in the Guilford area. He belonged to the Guilford Fire Dept. serving as chief from 1959 to 1963. He is survived by two sons, Charles Burgess of Abbot and Eric and his wife, Darlene of Guilford; five grandchildren, Katrina Pratt of Abbot, Shawn, Chad, Randy and Alan Burgess, all of Guilford; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Nicholas Pratt of Abbot; a sister, Avis and her husband, Edwin Edes of Guilford; two brothers-in-law, Lawrence Lewis of Massachusetts, Donald Lewis and his wife, Dorothy of Dover-Foxcroft; a sister-in-law, Joan Flood and her husband, Dell of Plymouth; a special nephew, Alan Flood of Newport; many other special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael in 1996; and a brother, Erwin in 1984. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 21 Oak St., Guilford. FORT FAIRFIELD and PERTH ANDOVER, N.B., CANADA - Mrs. Annie A. Burtchell, 96, wife of the late James Burtchell, passed away peacefully on Oct. 27, 1999, at a Perth Andover health care facility, after a long illness. She was born on March 10, 1903, in
Holmesville, N.B., Canada, the daughter of Nathaniel and Minnie (Kinney) Woodard. She attended the Beechwood school in Birch Ridge, N.B. and was married to James H. Burtchell on Dec. 26, 1920. Mrs. Burtchell was a 38 year resident of Fort Fairfield and also made her home in New York and Florida. She returned to Perth Andover in 1967. Mrs. Burtchell was a homemaker and a companion to several ladies in need. In addition to her husband of 38 years, James H. Burthcell, Annie was predeceased by one son, Max Woodard Burtchell; two brothers, Archie and Cecil Woodard; two sisters, Ruby Bell and Verna Canavan; one grandson, Gregory Walker. She is survived by three daughters....; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-stepgrandchildren; three nieces and nephews. MILO - Vera M. Burton, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Oct. 14, 1999, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born June 19, 1906, in Upper Waterville, N.B., Canada,
the eldest daughter of Woodford and Frances (Tompkins) Rockwell. After becoming a U.S. citizen, she married Harold H. Burton. They lived in Oakfield and then in Derby, raising eight children and their beloved eldest granddaughter, Bonita Marie Pelkey Cormier. She was a member of the United Baptist Church of Milo. Vera was a devoted mother and grandmother and loved her plants and crafts. She will be greatly missed by her children,..... and their spouses. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a twin daughter, Maxine Towne; three sisters, Erma Hillman, Ada Canning and Ida Crouse; a great-grandchild, Adam Bell; a great-great-grandchild, Samantha Cox.
