From E. C. Wright's "The Loyalists of N.B.", page 309 - David
LLOYD - service during the revolution was with the Royal Fencible
Americans; no mention of his former home; also an Andrew LLOYD
mentioned.
After the N.B. Provisionals were disbanded on July 29, 1802, David
LLOYD & others petitioned for land.
In a petition by David's widow's 2nd husband, John Tompkins, it
states that David moved from Kingsclear to Wakefield Parish in 1803 &
died within a year. He left 5 children but only 4 are mentioned:
James, Charles, Jeremiah & Hannah. The widow married John Tompkins in
1806.
David & Elizabeth settled on lots 62 & 63 near the Peel-Brighton
Parish line about 1803. David died soon after.
According to the Land Petition of 1820 by Charles LLOYD for lots
#62 & 63 he was 22 years of age, brother James was 25 & sister Hannah
Winslow was 18 (Winslow is Hannah's middle name - not another son of
David's)
Heirs of David LLOYD per land petition below Peel July c1820 -
were they David's children or grandchildren?
Copied from Daryl R. Hunter's "The Settlelrs of Northern Carleton
County 1783-1883" completed June 1974:
Page 23 "c1809 settlers around area of Peel, Florenceville,
Presqueile Settlement & Hartland had to travel by horse-drawn wagon
for a distance of 12 miles to get their grain ground & often met with
disappointment even at that distance. In October of 1820, John
Giberson decided to build a grist-mill on a brook located about a half
mile above his homestead (Stickney Brook). However, he knew that the
lots in that location (76 & 77) were reserved for public use, & so he
got up a petition of names requesting that a grist-mill be built, &
demonstrating its great need. Among the signatures on the petition
were Josiah Brown, Arthur Nicholson, William Nicholson, Hugh McGuigan,
Daniel Palmer, John Tompkins Sr., John Tompkins Jr., William Flanagan,
John Flanagan, Benjamin Stickney Sr., Newman Raymond, Nathaniel
Stickney, Elijah Tompkins,
Charles LLOYD 1* 1820. The mill seat ?
was granted the following spring.
(1* The Charles Lloyd who signed Giberson's petition would be
Charles Lloyd Junior born 1798 of age 22 in that year. Charles & his
brother, James, sister Hannah Winslow Lloyd, were all heirs of the
late David Lloyd, according to a petition for land below Peel in
July of that year. It also mentions that their father was a good
friend of the late Honourable Edward Winslow, Esquire.")
Page 29 "The first county election was held on May 1, 1852, & the
elected parish representatives were: Leonard Harding, Amos Gallop for
Wakefield, William Estey James Jones for Simonds; Zephanian Mills,
Robert Kerr for Wicklow; Samuel Dickinson, Charles Lloyd for Brighton;
Murphy Giberson, Jonas Fitzherbert for Kent; Henry Dibblee, William
Lindsay for Woodstock & George Clowes, John Shea for Northampton."
Page 32 "As mentioned, Florenceville got its first Way Office in
1858 & S. G. Burpee was the Way Officer. Mail was delivered by Stage
Coach owned by the Woodstock Stage Coach Company, which was incorporated in 1836 & later sold out to J. R. Tupper in 1839, & who managed the line for 27 more years. James Tupper owned a large store at Wakefield (Victoria Corner), which was the rendezvous for certain militia companies serving during the boundary excitement. He was also the paymaster for the 2nd Batallion for Carleton."

Per Annie Dyer to Etta 1983: LLOYD David married __Elizabeth. Their children: all born before 1809 - James (possibly); Gideon; Charles; Hannah. Elizabeth remarried about 1809 to John TOMPKINS.
The Dispatch 6 April 1904: Two Birds with One Pot One day last week while one Hatheway of Caanan & his son, about 14 years of age, were walking to Bath, they met one named LLOYD on his way home carrying a bean pot in a seamless bag.
Hatheway asked LLOYD to pay him for a sheep he had bought from him & LLOYD said "I paid you once." Hatheway denied that he had & told his debtor that unless he was paid at once there would be small pieces of LLOYD scattered over the face of nature in that vicinity.
LLOYD brought himself into action handsomely & swung the bag round his head a couple of times & landed the bean pot on Hatheway's jaw, knocking the daylights out of him. When he saw his enemy lying on the snow apparently dead, he was afraid & dropped the bag full of bean pot & wept. Young Hatheway, seeing his father a dead corpse, grabbed the bag & with a magnificent swing, landed it on LLOYD's ear & LLOYD went down with a thud.
Just then a man drove along & gathered up the two men & the boy & hauled them into Bath where Dr. Cummings sewed up the wounds & put them on their feet again, both the men by no means as good as new but they will be someday.
When LLOYD was able to talk coherently someone asked him who won the fight. LLOYD said, "By gobs, I don't know but I do know that I have lost my bean pot!."

13 March 1991 letter from Mrs.Curtis (Anne B) McGann _ to Etta:
I am researching a Lloyd line in my family & wonder if you might have any
information on it. My gr gr grandmother was Mary Ann Lloyd who married
Thomas Dobson - date unknown - place unknown. According to her tombstone
in Tracy Mills Cemetery in Centreville she died 21 June 1890 age 66 yrs 5
mos 21 ds; according to the birth record of one of her children she was
born in Bath, N.B. Family history says she had a brother Samuel. I have
found a Samuel in some N.B. census & in the 1851 census a Sarah was with
him & may have been his sister & also Mary Ann's. I think Mary Ann may
have descended from James Lloyd & his father David Lloyd but
I'm not sure."
21 March 1991 _ Dear Anne,
I enclose print-out of my Sarah Lloyd & also print-out of other
Lloyds, hoping that someone will be able to sort them out. If you can
make any connections from this information I would appreciate
receiving this from you.
Ashland is a few miles out back of Hartland, Carleton County, N.B.
This is where my Sarah was born. _ Sincerely, _ Etta Haywood-Faulkner

* Anne "never found a marriage record in Maine or N.B. There is no
record of death for them in Maine - or probate record. The
information on their deaths is from the gravestones in Tracy Mills
Cemetery in Centreville. On a birth certificate of one of Thomas &
Mary's children it lists Mary's birthplace of Bath, N.B. Because of
this & the fact that she & her husband were buried in Centreville I
thought perhaps some of her LLOYD family might be there also. The
only other LLOYD there is Jeremiah & his 1st wife.

__________________________Mary LLOYD - age 30 - a lodger (Anne's
mother, Mary should have been married to Thomas Dobson by now. Her
son William was born in Kent in 1846 - Perhaps he is the 5 year old

old at the time of his birth

_____
Your "Aunt" Cecelia was probably the wife of Gideon who was in
Peel in 1881 census. Gideon would be a cousin to Sarah - his father
Charles being a brother of James Joseph.
Your "Uncle" Charles could be Gideon's brother - married to Phoebe
in the Peel census 1881.
If the letter was written after 1881 the Charles, brother of James
& Jeremiah, would be in his mid eighties or older.
_____
Other LLOYDs not identified in Carleton Co. 1851:
Brighton - LLOYD John D b c1816 - wife Sarah maiden name possibly
RAVEL - could be another son of James & Mary?
- LOYD Ann - age 16 - living with Benjamin ATWATER's as
servant
Kent - LOYD Eliza - age 8 living with Archibald WOODWARD
_____
Family sources said Mary LLOYD DOBSON had a brother Samuel & was
of Scottish origin. Also that she was part Mic Mac Indian. I have
found no proof of this.
Your Sarah could well have been the infirm Sarah - She would have
married rather late - age 34 - if she was not with brothers James or
Samuel in 1861 & was 31 & still infirm she might be living with a
sister or as a servant. It doesn't seem likely she would be too far
from her family.
Do you think your Martha NEVERS was the daughter of James & Martha
listed in 1851 census in Brighton - age 4 - making her 14 at time of
her marriage. It might explain why she left her 27 yr old husband.
