I have a 2nd greatgrand father and mother from Windsor in
Carleton County named Aaron
Mcleod and Jane Abigail Price. I do have the cemetery information. I am
specifically looking for a death certificate of some sort (c.

family is pretty well researched through the Webb, Price and
Hovey families. They were both from Ludlow, Northumberland.
Aaron's dad might be out of the 42nd regiment via Nashwaak.

Davenport-Devenport-Danford-Danforth
Looking for the grandparents of Burtis Elmer
Davenport born May 31, 1892 in Summerfield, Carleton
Co. to Wallace
Howard Davenport and Jane Green and
passed away Oct. 20, 1962.
In all paperwork that I have found, Wallace claims that his
parents were Timothy Davenport and Margaret Donovan. Wallace
has listed the name as Davenport, Devenport and Danforth, but
on the marriage record to Jane Green, daughter of
George and Jane Green, it lists Davenport and this is what
his children and first wife went by. He also has listed
Bath, California Settlement and Limestone as his birth place---maybe
?.
He walked out on Jane leaving 3 children, Burtis Elmer, Viola
Maud and Judson Gilbert whom all came to Mars Hill, Maine
area and lived with Ashel and Hannah Bell Green until they
married. When Wallace died he was married to Alma
Marshall of Westfield, Maine and they had children, so maybe
the name change for leaving one wife with little ones to move
on with another--just a thought. Also the 2nd wife told
her children that Davenport was an Indian name and she didn't
want that. I cannot find Wallace listed anywhere with
the Timothy Davenport family, but have heard rumors that
there was another child but no one remembers the name or what
happened to it-can anyone shed any light on my
greatgrandfathers family-please.

Jackson
We are looking for
William Jackson who was a
Loyalist
and settled in Woodstock, NB sometime after 1777. William
probably died in 1830. We believe he was married to Rebecca (no

They had a son John who was married to Margaret (Simonds/Symonds).
They produced Alexander who married Emily (London). One
of their sons was Charles Leonard Jackson - who left home
because of an abusive father and setted in Linneus, Maine for
a time and then finally moved to Greenville, Maine. He
was my great grandfather. We would appreciate any information
on William, John or Alexander Jackson and any of their wives.

Pipe Organ / Baptist Church/ Woodstock
April 2001
A question not strickly related to geneaology, but it is
history related. I'm looking for information relating to a
pipe organ that was believed to have been in the Woodstock
Baptist Church, Woodstock, NB, most likely in the early
part of the 20th century. It was probably taken out of
service and put in storage sometime in early 1950's.
I have recently acquired most
of this organ and plan on restoring a good part of it to
playing condition. Any information on it's
origins, installation, active use, photos, etc would be
greatly appreciated.
UPDATE: Since my last note have started
cleaning work on organ
and pipechests. Now think
that organ was last repaired / updated around 1964 and placed
in storage approx early '70s.
I have also discovered that original
parts of organ were made by F.A. Peters,
Organbuilder, St. John NB in 1893. Apparently he ran an organ
building firm there from approx 1883 { with Paine }. Any
information on F.A. Peters, Paine / Peter Organ greatly
appreciated.
Kind regards, Dave Milton E

My grandfather was born in either Woodstock or Hartland, NB,

He moved to the US, settled in San Francisco, where my father

MARR
Who was the wife of Alexander
Marr, Smiths Creek, Kings Co., New Brunswick
1795 and where is she buried? One account says Esther Job (Jobe/Jobes)
Deed (Dee/Dees). I'd estimate her dates to be 1765-1850. In
old age she may have joined family in another county, having
been interred there. There is record of an Esther Marr
receiving a Revolutionar War soldier widow's pension, Kings
Co. 1841-1842, no further information. Alexander, a veteran
of the 42nd. Highland Regiment, died at Smiths Creek 1829.
Any clue, however remote, appreciated.

Good
Leota's ancestry begins in
Balmerino, Fife, Scotland where Thomas
Guid (the next generation changed the spelling to Good)
was thought to be
born in 1610. Through the next four generations the
Goods named their first
son James - probably out of loyalty to the successive King
James of
Scotland. The family descent line went like this: #1.
Thomas b. 1610 -- #2.
James b. 1633 and sibling Andro b.1640 -- #3. James b.
1666 -- #4. James b.
1710 -- then #5. James b. 1741 and sibling David Good c. 23
Apr 1749. David
Good was the fourth child of James and Barbara (Berry)
Good of the Parish
of Balmerino, Fife.
David Good emigrated to America
and was thought to have lived in Virginia
for a time. He is identified in New York during 1891
with wife Jane where
they baptized infant daughter Elizabeth at Trinity Church
Parish. At this
time he was a member of the 2nd Battalion New Jersey
Volunteers and arrived
the Saint John River with the First Fleet in 1783.
He first settled at Burton NB
where he received his first Land Grant.
During the next 16 years
David and Jane produced eight more children. James b. 1783,
David Jr., b.
1785, William b. 1788, Jane (Jean) b. 1790, Jonas (John)
b. 1792, Francis
b. 1794, Catherine b. 1796 (She
married Abraham Long the Loyalist) and
Solomon b. 2 Jul 1799. It is thought that most of these
children were born
at Burton with possibly the exception of Solomon. David
removed to
Kingsclear where he received a second Land Grant in 1799.
Data exist to
confirm that Elizabeth, David Jr., Jane and Solomon were
David and Janes
children. Data on William is very sketchy, Jonas was a
witness to sister
Catherine's marriage to Abraham Long, and James the oldest
son. Several
indentures identify David and son James conducting land
dealings but none
confirm the relationship.
I can provide much more data on
the family and have published a GOOD 1610 - 1997 Family
History.
I am currently trying to get my wife Leota Good her U.E.
Certificate and could use some help.
Is there anyone who can confirm
that the James Good who initiated the Good Corner Settlement
in 1837, where he died on 27 May 1868, was David Good's son.
David and Jane Good were the
only Goods capable of producing the above children in the
period from 1783
to 1799 but that is not acceptable proof for the U.E. sleuths.
I cannot find
that elusive reference that states 'James Good was the son of
David Good,
the loyalist. Can you help me in any way?

Hawkins
I have been researching the Hawkins family,
descendants of
Michael Hawkins (ca. 1750-1845),
the Loyalist of New Jersey who settled in Keswick [then St. Mary's], York
County, New Brunswick.
The manuscript is now 650+ pages and am trying to put the
finishing touches on it for printing this summer.
One Hawkins family which has confounded me is
Abraham [Abram]
Hawkins, b. 1806, married Frances Burtt, and lived in Kingsclear, then
Keswick, and finally in or around Wilmot, Carleton County,
where he died in the 1880's. He fits well into the family of
John Michael and Nancy (Todd) Hawkins yet every list of their
children does not list him as the eldest son. His wife was a
sister to Rebecca Burtt who married James Hawkins, a son of
John Michael and Nancy and my great-great-great grandfather.
Abraham had a son Somerville who I think owned a tavern or
small hotel in the Wilmot area.
