EASTPORT - Clarence Edward Townsend, 80, died May 27, 1999, surrounded by his family in a Bangor hospital. He was born April 30, 1919, in Eastport, the son of Edwin and Nellie (Hayden) Townsend. Clarence worked much of his life as a home heating technician throughout Washington County. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by a son, Ellery "Buddy" Townsend; one daughter, Dianne Seeley and one stepdaughter, Sandra Seeley; one brother, Austin Townsend of Calais; four sisters, Hilda Mathews and Nora Phinney, both of Campobello, New Brunswick, Canada, Pearl Miliano of Searsport and Susy McDevitt of Fairborn, Ohio. He also leaves a special grandson whom he raised, Shirl Penney. Clarence will be missed by all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Flagg Funeral Home 2 p.m. Sunday, May 30, with the Rev. Sheldon Keezer officiating. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Eastport. Donations in her memory may be sent to the Bangor Savings Bank in Eastport, care of Clarence E. Townsend Memorial Scholarship Fund. This scholarship will be given annually to an economically challenged Shead graduate seeking higher education.

Stella M. Townsend died unexpectedly April 26, 1990 at a Calais hospital. She was born on Oct. 12, 1910 at Campobello Island, N.B. the daughter of Herbert and Mary (Morey) Mitchell.
She lived at Campobello until 1964 when she went to the United States.
She is survived by her husband, Harry A. Townsend of Woodland; one son Wheelock Porter of Campobello; three daughters, Mrs. Keith (Irene) Newman, Mrs. Leo (Ernestine) Newman, both of Campobello, Mrs. Ross (Alice) Cline of Harvey Station; one stepson, Larry Sears of Perry, Me.; two sisters, Eva Marsh of Eastport and Reta Mitchell of Calais; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home, Calais, conducted by the Rev. Christopher Chornyak and the Rev. John Moore. Burial was in the Wilsons Beach Community Cemetery, Campobello Island. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Dana Newman, Kerry Newman, Ross Cline, Tracy Cline, Frank Porter and John Porter.

Campobello - Mrs. Victor (Evelyn) Townsend died December 28 1969 at the Downeast Community Hospital in Machias.
Survivors include one son, Vincent of Saugus, Mass., three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs Minnie Thompson, Saint John NB, and Miss Hattie Calder, Welshpool; one brother Colwell Calder, Welshpool.
Funeral services were held from the North Road Baptist wiht Rev. Eugene Chandler and Rev. Wendell Calder, Nephew of the deceased assisting. Pall bearers were Clifford Calder, Clinton Calder, Raymond Lank, Burton Lank, Reginald Calder and Maxwell Calder. Internment was in teh Anglican cemetery at Welshpool. Many floral tributes, donations to the Church building fund and Gideon Bible donations testify to the esteem in which the deceased was held.

Campobello
- Milton S. Townsend passed away on Tuesday, Nov
28, 1972 at Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen after a brief
illness. He was born, the third son of Lilian and Winslow
Townsend on March 14, 1899. At the time of his retirement, he had
been employed by the Roosevelt Campobello Park for many years as
gardner and caretaker. His lifelong hobby was flowers and
gardening. Friends always admired the flower gardens he planted
around his home.
Survivors include his widow, Hilda; one brother, Vincent of
Eastport; and two sisters, Emma Cox of Whitman, Mass., and Evelyn
Durgan of St. Andrews and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were John Newman, Brent Calder, Reginald Calder Jr.,
Edwin Allingham, Edward Cline and Roy Cline.
Funeral services were held at St. Anne's Anglican Church,
Welshpool. Rev. Paisley, Rector, officiating. Burial was at St.
Anne's Churchyard.
