Eastport - Esther Jane (Brown) Kurzweil, 89, died at a Bangor hospital Nov. 20, 1971. She was the daughter of John and Abigail (Tinker) Brown and was born April 18,1882 at Campobello, New Brunswick.
She moved to Eastport at an early age and graduated from Eastport Boynton High School. She lived the greater part of her life in Eastport, where she operated the Quoddy Hotel. She also worked for her brother (Oscar H. Brown) in a news and confectionary store on Washington Street. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Eastport Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by one granddaughter, Jane M. Skehan of Milo; one grandson, John Skehan of Hampden; and one nephew, William Brown of Eastport.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Ferris Funeral Home with the Rev. Roland Chaffee officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery in Eastport.
Friends may call at the funeral home in Eastport Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
