LUBEC - Dallas E. Farmer, 87, passed away Jan. 19, 2003, at a Machias healthcare facility. He was born at Lubec, Oct. 18, 1915, the son of Aubrey and Lovina (Small) Farmer.
He worked in the local sardine factories, was employed as an apartment building supervisor in Massachusetts for six years, then returned to Lubec where he lobster fished until his retirement. He maintained his sense of humor until the end. He loved animals, especially dogs.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Minzy) Farmer; a grandson, Robert "Bobby" Tinker Jr.; three brothers, Beverly Farmer, Gerard Farmer and Charles Farmer; two sisters, Christine Carter and Gwendolyn Mahar. He is survived by five daughters and their husbands, Sally and Malcolm Foss of South Portland, Diane and Robert Tinker of Alston, Mass., Jean and Danny Quimby of Bucks Harbor, Kathy and Perley Gray of Marshfield, Nanette and Raymond Jones of Trescott; three sisters, Martha Brown of Lubec, Elaine Leavitt of Lubec and Florence Newton of Brunswick; a brother, Royal Farmer, also of Brunswick; special nephew, Elwin Moore of Glastonbury, Conn.; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several other nieces and nephews; and a brother-in-law, Jack Minzy of Connecticut. He will be remembered and missed by his care givers at Marshall Health and Rehab Center in Machias.
Friends are invited to visit with the family 10-11 a.m. Friday at the Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Gary Look officiating. A gathering will be held at Nanette and Raymond Jones' home on the Wilcox Road in Trescott after the funeral service. GARY A. FARMER MANAGED BRUNSWICK SERVICE STATION Gary A. Farmer, 29, of Wheeler Road, died Thursday in an automobile accident on Route 201.
Born in Brunswick, a son of Beverly Leroy and Doris McKechnie Farmer, he attended Brunswick schools and graduated from Brunswick High School in 1984.
Mr. Farmer was employed at Ben's Service Station and Bath Express Lube, and was a manager of T-Hi Texaco on Pleasant Street, Brunswick, for several years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and boating, and was a member of a league at Bowling Bowl, Brunswick.
Surviving are his mother of Brunswick; a daughter, Candis Farmer, and a son, Corey, both of Bowdoin; three brothers, John L. of Great Island and Kevin L. Farmer of Campobello Island, New Brunswick, and Darrell C. Douglas of Richmond; four sisters, Crystal L. Dutton of Brunswick, Patricia A. Maker of Old Orchard Beach, and Brenda L. Kelly and Susan D. Davis, both of Lubec.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal St., Brunswick. Spring burial will be in Varney Cemetery, Topsham. Copyright (c) 1994 Guy Gannett Communications
