FROM ELISHA LAWLEY AND SOME OF HIS DESCENDANTS BY FRANCES P. TUCK, 1998

The following record was written by Alberta Lorene Lawley about her father, Henry Columbus Lawley.  A copy of the record was shared with your compiler by Fred Lawley, great nephew of Alberta Lorene Lawley.

My father Henry Columbus Lawley for years after moving his family to "Jones Valley" in 1883 or 1885 worked for Sloss-Sherfield Steel & Iron Co.  (Later the town was called Birmingham after the English town.)  He then became Inspector for the Continental Gin Co. over Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana for many years.  Then he became a builder and then went into business for himself drilling water wells.  He went back to Continental Gin Co. and back to building but when he died at 62 Continental was urging him to return but Mother wanted him to stay at home (which he did).
