MARY "POLLY" WILLIAMS was born March 1805 in Tennessee (Weakley County)?, and died June 27, 1868 in Rusk County, Texas.  She married (1) RICHARD/ROBERT? FIELDS before 1825 in Williams Settlement, Rusk County, Texas, Coahuila, Mexico.  He died May 1827 in Nacogdoches, Cohuila Y Texas, Mexico.  She married (2) WILLIAM ELLIOTT 1827 in Williams Settlement, Rusk County, Texas, Coahuila, Mexico, son of JOHN ELLIOTT and REBECCA BEESON.  He was born November 06, 1794 in Brandywine, New Castle, Delaware, and died June 06, 1867 in Rusk County, Texas.

Notes for RICHARD/ROBERT? FIELDS:

If this is the Cherokee chief Richard Fields, he came to Texas, Mexico around 1821 according to "History of the Cherokee Indians, Their Legend and Folklore" by Emmett Starr published 1921.  Its genealogical section does not contain a record of this marriage to Mary (Polly) Williams however, thus this is only speculation as to the identity of this Richard Fields at this point.

Floyd Smith could not confirm or deny as to the identity of this Richard Fields, or where the information on this marriage could be found.

"Mary 'Polly', born about 1799 (per 1835 Williams Settlement census), born about 1807 Tennessee, per 1850 census; married William Elliott, born about 1794 in Delaware.  They were enumerated 3 times on the Mexican censuses, once on the 1835 Williams census as William Elliott (age 40), wife Mary (age 36), and children:

         1.     John (age 7)

        2.     Thomas (age 5)   

        3.     Lewis (age 2)

 Twice on the census of the Municipality of Nacogdoches as Guillermo Aliet (39), wife Ma. Pole (26), and children:

         1.     Juan (6)

        2.     Tomas (2)

        3.     Luisa (6 months)

 And again as Guilian Eliot (age 38), wife Ma. Pole (28), and children:

         1.     Juan Santiago (6)

        2.     Tomas (age 4)

 They lived in Rusk County, Texas in 1850; their children were all born in Texas."
