Notes for SETH THOMAS:

Seth apparently never married.  He served in the 50th Illinois US Infantry during the Civil War.  Obituary for Seth taken from the Barry Adage, July 3, 1929, page 4:

Seth Thomas, 85, Civil war veteran, was found dead in his bed at his home in Kinderhook Friday morning, June 28th.  "Uncle" Seth was among one of the last of the veterans and his passing reduces the number to about three living in this immediate area.  The others being Charles McKee, L. J. Lankford and L. K. Smith.

Mr. Thomas, who had lived alone for a number of years, was widely known to Pike county residents and enjoyed health until his sudden death.

He prized his army record and through his declining years reflected upon the years spent in the army during the Civil War when he and Charles McKee, marched from "Atlanta to the Sea," in the great cause of liberty.

He had been too feeble to engage in labor during the past years, but had been active among his friends and did much for his own amusement.

He is survived by two brothers, Phylander Thomas of Kinderhook, J. J. Thomas of Hedrick, Oklahoma, and Mrs. Nancy Gallaher of Quincy.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 29th, at 2:30 o'clock from the Kinderhook Methodist church and interment was made in the Kinderhook cemetery.
