She was born about 1834 in Barry or Newton County, Missouri, and died about 1875 in Probably Hill or Navarro County, Texas. He married (2) EMALINE between 1877 - 1880 in Hill or Navarro Co., Texas. She was born about 1849 in Georgia-per 1880 Hill Co census her parents were born in South Carolina.

"Served in the Civil War, joining the Volunteer Company of Mounted Men, Beat 8, organized August 10, 1861, 28th Brigade as the second sergeant (Aaron Estes was 1st sergeant of this brigade). They lived in Hill County 1860 &1870.

ELLEN WALLACE ESTES was born September 10, 1838 in Newton County, Missouri-middle name per tavern receipt in Estes papers, and died July 19, 1918 in Boerne, Kendall County, Texas. She is buried in the Boerne Cemetery in Kendall County, Texas. She married (1) GIDEON C. (GID) JOHNSTON June 05, 1855 in McLennan County, Texas. He was born 1812 in North Carolina, and died 1870 in McLennan County, Texas. She married (2) R. (RUSSELL) CRANE (CRAIN) 1873 in McLennan County, Texas. He was born about 1843 in Kendall County, Republic of Texas, and died July 1894 in Boerne, Kendall County, Texas.

"They lived in McLennan County, Texas in 1860. Gideon died in 1870 and she married husband 2, R. Crane. About 1895, they were living in Kendall County, Texas."

Located in the Estes-Williams papers in the Texas Collection of the Caroll Library at Baylor University, the first item that appears in folder one is a bounty land application involving Gideon Johnston and Aaron Estes dated August 8, 1850.

According to Floyd Smith his information on the Crane family came from the grandson, Bryan Wilbur Deddeker. Mr. Crane was shot and killed trying to stop a fight between his son and another man.
