JOHN WILAM (WILLIAM) THOMAS was born January 17, 1875 in Wheelock, Robertson County, Texas, and died January 01, 1950 in Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas. He is buried at the City of Lubbock Cemetery, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas. He married MARION FRANCES (FANNY) LAUGHTER October 12, 1893 in Nesbitt, Desoto County, Mississippi, daughter of WILLIAM LAUGHTER and MARY HOPE. She was born September 14, 1875 in Hernando, Desoto County, Mississippi, and died February 28, 1948 in Pacific Beach, San Diego, California. She is buried in the City of Lubbock Cemetery, Lubbock, Lubbock County, Texas.

John Will was living with his daughter, Maggie Thomas Cox, at the time of his death in 1950. His funeral was held at the Asbury Methodist Church and was conducted by Rev. Bickley. Pallbearers at his funeral were Earl Merrel, Garnet Blackmon, A.R. Shipp, Cyrus Brown, Buster Koenzin and George Blackmon. John Will was a Mason.

Fannie was a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star. After her death, the family brought the body back to Lubbock where she was buried. Family information on the Thomas family came from the family Bible and was written down by Fannie and her daughter Madie.
