"Emigrated On The Ark To Maryland With Lord Calvert. Thomas
Green and his wife Martha came to Virginia from Rotterdam,
Holland on the ship "Speedwell" which was suppose to have been
the sister ship of the Mayflower, but had leak problems and had
to return to port on that first voyage to America. On a later

the birth year of the son, Thomas "The Seagull" Green, who was
born on the Speedwell on the way to America. Thomas married

Written 3-2-1811 in Worcester County, Maryland/Proven 1816 in
Worcester County, Maryland
In the name of God, Amen, I, Thomas Loakey, in Worcester County
in the state of Maryland, being weak in body but of a sound
memory and judgment and I know that it is appointed for all men
to die that I, Thomas Loakey have thought fit to make this and
ordain this my Last Will and Testament on the second day of
March in the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and eleven.
First I give and bequeath unto my wife, Ester Loakey legable
possession of my lands and my property of any kind during her
life time or widowhood and
then I give and bequeath unto my son, Samuel Loakey, landed
property that I p- - - - - (possess ?) during his lifetime and
after his death to his son, Dingley Loakey, and if he dies
without any heirs, to his brother, Isaac Loakey and
likewise I give and bequeath to my son, Thomas Loakey, one young
mare that is about two years old at this time
and likewise constitute and appoint my son, Samuel Loakey, as my
executor and for him to sell as much of my moveable estate as
will pay my just debts and his due to the said Samuel Loakey and
likewise I give and bequeath twenty dollars to son, Thomas
Loakey, to be paid him by my executor as soon as he shall be in
possession of the landed property and
likewise twenty dollars to John Loakey,
twenty dollars to Benjamin Loakey, and
twenty dollars to Dingley Loakey.
Being all of them my sons and likewise I bequeath ten dollars
to each of my two grandsons, by the name of James Butler and
William Butler, the sons of my daughter, Betty Butler, the wife
of Samuel Butler, and
I do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in witness
whereof I have set my hand and seal this year and date above
written, signed, sealed in the presence of William Richardson,
John Toadvine, and Mary Richardson, wife of William Richardson.
(This Will was transcribed from a xerox copy of the micro-film
on which Thomas Loakey's actual hand-written Will existed. It
was found in the Worcester County Library at 307 North
Washington Street, Snow Hill, Maryland 21863. It is verbatim
with the exception of one word which was indecipherable and was
reproduced from the initial letter with dashes to represent
subsequent letters. The most obvious word that might have been
used in that context is written parenthetically [possess]. The
Will was almost devoid of punctuation and capital letters were
used indescriminately. Some commas were inserted to clarify
meaning. Misspelled words were retained in an effort to preserve
its authenticity.)
