Rev. William Hickman (Thomas, Edwin, Thomas, Thomas, Nathaniel) was born in King and Queen County, Virginia, February 4, 1747. William died 1830 in Frankfort, Franklin County, Kentucky, at 83 years of age.


He married twice. He married Elizabeth Shackleford. He married Elizabeth (Abbott) Dicken in Scott County, Kentucky, December 25, 1814.


Rev. William Hickman and Elizabeth Shackleford had the following children:

Lettice Hickman married Benjamin Franklin Edrington in Woodford County, Kentucky, March 2, 1792.
Thomas Hickman married Polly Bartlett August 23, 1793.
Sally Hickman was born in Woodford, Kentucky in 1781. She married John Cunningham.
Benjamin Hickman married Frances Littlepage, 1802.
Capt. Paschal Hickman was born in Cumberland, Virginia, 1783.
Mary Hickman was born in Franklin, Kentucky, January 11, 1785. She married Capt. Hunter.
Martha Estell Hickman was born in Woodford, Kentucky. She married Christopher Ransdell, 1809.
John Hickman was born about 1786. He married Suzette L'Homme.
Polly Hickman was born 1787.
Elizabeth Hickman was born 1789 in Woodford, Kentucky. She married Richard Todd.

JOAN was born while her parents were on the Seventh Crusade in Acre, an ancient city in Israel won from the Muslims in 1191 during the third Crusade by Richard the Lion Hearted and other leaders (but lost again 1291)


Joan married for the second time clandestinely about 1297 to Ralph De Monthermer who had been a membr of the late Earl's household. He died 10 May 1325.

Acre is a city and a port. Today it is in northwest Israel, north of Mount Carmel. The Hebrew is Akko or Accho. The ancient name for the city is Ptolemais. per DSH
