"The will of Thomas ANDREWS [Will Book #13, page 248] of the
Parish of St.Ann 's in the County of Essex, dated April 27, 1779
and proved on August 16, 1779 . He leaves
to his sons Thomas and William ANDREWS all his lands in the
County of Cumberland, Virginia.
To his sons Mark and James ANDREWS he leaves his land in Essex
County.
To his daughter Frances ANDREWS [wife of Joshua GARNETT] he
bequeaths a negro "Nanny" who was already in the possession of
his daughter.
To another of his daughters, Sussanna GARNETT he leaves another
negro "Hannah" also in her possession.
To daughters Ave, Elizabeth and Ann ANDREWS he gives a bed and
other chattels.
The residue of negroes are instructed to be divided amongst his
four sons and three daughters
[Thomas, William, Mark, James, Ave, Elizabeth, and Ann].
To his wife Joice ANDREWS he leaves his lands in Essex County
for her life."
