Mother: Lucy Ann PHELPS |
Samuel Hogue md. Delaney (Laney) Noel 5 Nov. 1804. The Hogg
property was next to the Noel property. In property deeds it
was interresting to watch Samuel change the spelling of his
name. For a period of time he spelled it Hogg. Then the day
came when it changed to Hogue and remained that way ever since.
His children are (no proof of course):
1. Richard Hogue luntic
2. Milburn N. Hogue md. Nancy
3. Nancy Hogue md. John Tuley 13 Aug. 1832
4. Catherine P. Hogue md. Mathew Paxton 19 Oct. 1832 bondsman
Saml. Hogue
5. Samuel T. Hogue bn. 14 Feb. 1816. This is my 2nd
ggrandfather.
I have very little proof but a lot of educated speculation on
John Sr.'s family. I know that John was married to Lucy, I
don't know if it was Lucy Ann Phelps. They were probably
married and started their family in Hanover Co., however, it
could have just as easily been Albermarle, because Amherst was
formed out of that county after they had moved there. When you
take a look at the size of John's family in the census record
and link that with marriage dates, land grants, deeds, wills,
and probate records the family truly starts to take shape.
Have a great day and I hope that this information will be of
worth to you.
Sincerely, Gary W. Hogue
