Mother: Sarah "Sally" ELLIS |
Cythia Harrison d. 1899 and Lura Porter Lindsay Saxon (dau of
Zack and Nancy Harrison Lindsay) lived in Union Co. AR.
There were other Harrisons listed under Land Records for Union
Co. They were:
Harrison, Augustus 1861
Daniel 1889
Garland 1906
George 1860
Gideon 1860
Lorenzo 1859
Nancy 1848
William 1860
Daniel Harrison's Bible indicates the following:
Battaile b. 4-16-1771
Josiah b. 6-21-1772
Nancy b. 2-2-1774
James b. 10-20-1775
Reuben b. 4-2-1777
John Ellis b. 3-5-1779
Charles b. 3-28-1781
Daniel White 2-20-1783 MY LINE!
Betsey Ellis 1-20-1785
_____ Harden? b. 2-8-1787 (looks like Sally)
Zachariah b. 10-2-1789
William ______ b. 1-20-1791 (possibly Rodney - looks like name
ends in "dney")
Melinde P. 2-20-1793
__Jems b. 3-21- 1784 (not sure if it should have been 1794)
Anne b. 12-25-1798 ( the 8 is questionable)
Also listed is what appears to be Tolley or Jolley Harrison b.
3-25-1751
Then the following:
Departed this life:
Charles 1-18-1790
John 3-15-1795
Betsey Ellis 11-17-1799
Nancy 1804
Sally 11-18 180?
My line is then noted:
Again, Daniel W. Harrison b. 2-20-1783 married 10-27-1808 Jinny
Harrison b. 4-16-1781 (this is his wife, Jane Leftwich, daughter
of Littleberry and Frances Hopkins Leftwich - both of their
lines thoroughly researched, until it gets to this union!))
1 - Fanny Hopkins Harrison b. 11-22-1809 MY LINE
2 - LiB Leftwich Harrison b. 2-11-1812 ( I believe the "LiB" to
mean Littleberry because they did have a son named Littleberry)
3- Melinda Ellis b. 2-11-1814
4 - James Greenville Harrison b. 10-4- 1816
5 - Joel Leftwich Harrison b. 2-21-1819
6 - another Joel Leftwich Harrison b. 3-30-1821
7 - Elizer Jane Harrison b. 1-10-1824 (not positive on date)
Another note indicates the death of an ____ Leftwich Harrison
5-25-1820
(possibly the first Joel Leftwich above)
Obviously the name, Battaile, is most unusual and I have looked
at the lineage on a Battaile Harrison, son of Andrew, that is on
several different genealogy sites. The fact that his wife,
Frances White, was the daughter of a Daniel White, and my
ancestor was Daniel White Harrison looks promising. I then
looked at Battaile's son, John. Many of his children have far
too many of the same names as the siblings of my Daniel. It's
particularly interesting also that his wife's maiden name is
Ellis and that name appears in several of Daniel's siblings
names also. Could it be that Daniel was a grandson to John or
could I possibly have a more complete listing of John's
children?
My line: Fanny Hopkins Harrison - she married James D. Blackburn
who was born in TN but I have no other information on his family
- their son, Joel C., born in TN, is my gggrandfather who
settled in MS. (My maiden name is Blackburn). Any help will be
greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead of time, Mary

"Richard Lee of Coton, who married Elizabeth Bendy in 1599,(13)
was long attributed as the father of Colonel Richard Lee, the
emigrant, but my research has so far found no indisputible link
between the families in original documents. However there is
evidence that the emigrant was from a Shropshire family. He may
be from the Coton Lee family of Alveley or the Langley Lee
family of Acton Burnell.
The search for the ancestry of Richard Lee, the emigrant, can
only be conducted within this family as by using these arms he
has clearly told us that he was a descendant of the Shropshire
Lees. Colonel Richard Lee of Virginia used the armorial bearings
of the Lee family of Shropshire, either Coton or Langley. We
cannot ignore this fact. Either we believe this testimony or
cast doubt on the word and actions of a man who became Secretary
of State for Virginia. In 1682 John Gibbon, a high ranking
officer at the College of Arms, who was close to the Lee family,
confirmed the arms and family of Colonel Richard Lee as those of
Coton or Langley in his book Introductio ad Latinam Blasoniam,
1682. Gibbon lived at Lee's Dividing Creek plantation,
Northumberland County, in 1658-61. The Colonel's son Richard
owned a copy of the Gibbon's book. The Colonel made an affidavit
in 1655 that the two hunndred ounces of family silver being
taken back to Virginia all bore his arms. Therefore he was
definitely from an armigerous family."
