Notes

From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Subject: Garnhart Info Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 Josephine Lindsay Bass: "I just noticed your postings of 1995-2000. Although that was considerable time past & you may well have developed the Garnharts more fully by now, I thought I should drop you a line about the parentage of sisters Elizabeth Ann & Permelia Garnhart. They were not the daughters of Jacob Garnhart, who died without issue. They are rightly the daughters of his brother, Henry Garnhart. Successions for both Jacob & Henry are filed in Box 40 of West Feliciana Par., LA. Hope this is helpful." M. Knowles.

From: [email protected] (Paul Muller) To: [email protected] Subject: Garnhart Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2000 I saw your recent post & I too have a mystery involving a Garnhart. I'm sorry to say that I have no more than what you have (in fact, not as much), but maybe if I give you what I have, it may help us both.My 3rd GGrandmother (I'm pretty sure) was Elizabeth Garnhart...she was married to a Burrell Hall...their son was Thomas Hall, whom I believe was an engineer or captain, etc., on a riverboat. He was married to Louise Mourain & they lived in Bayou Sara when my GGrandmother was born. I've found that Burrel Hall and Elizabeth Garnhart were deceased in 1857 when their son married Louise Mourain...the wedding is recorded in the Baton Rouge Diocese in Point Coupee Parish. The Pamilia Garnhart you speak of is quite likely the sister of my Elizabeth Garnhart...if so, it stands that there's a good chance that their father was Jacob Garnhart, who lived in Feliciana Parish during the War of 1812. I've also seen records that there was a Catalina Garnhart listed in Notre Dame records in 1797, when she was deceived into marrying a Lt. Borras in New Orleans...her parents names aren't mentioned, but they were said to have come from Tennessee. In June of 1797 they were living in Bayou Sara... I hope this helps in some way, and I would appreciate it if you would pass on anything you might have about these people. Paul Muller, Gulf Breeze, FL
