"He served in the 7th VA cavalry under Gen'l Turner Ashby and eventually under Gen'l W. E. "Grumble" Jones. His physical description, as listed in "7th Va Cavalry" by Richard L. Armstrong, 1992, was 6', fair complexion, gray hair and blue eyes, a miller. He was admitted to Gordansville (Charity) Hospital 8/19/1863 where he died 8/23/1863 of typhoid fever. Now the Exchange Hotel Museum, has website, which has him listed as buried in the graveyard out back. Under the West Virginia Library commision site, you can see where his wife signed for his pension papers.


He had ten children, but I only have the names of seven.
