From MARRIAGES OF CHESTERFIELD CO, VA 1771-1815, comp Catherine L. Knorr, p 103. 23 Aug 1813. Howell Rose and Maria M. Bryant "who has lived at Capt.Edmund Locketts for 7 years", dau of William G. Bryant, sur. Francis Watkins, wit. Edmund Lockett and Mary Logwood, p 121.

Chest. Co. cemetery book: Lockett Cemetery, no location given. "There are six graves marked with fieldstone and one marked with a headstone." Lockett, Edmund, Captain, Jun 3, 1761-Jun 24, 1834.

In 1783, an Edmond Lockett witnessed the will of Joseph Watkins [Chesterfield County Court Order Book 6:494]. Edmond Lockett helped with the inventory of the estate of James Flournoy in 1801 [Chesterfield County Will Book 5:468]. Probably that was the Edmund born in 1761; On 30 August 1802, a coroner's inquisition was held at the house of Edmund Lockett. Justice of the Peace Isaac Salle presided. Jurors determined that a slave identified only as "Sarah, a negro, property of Sarah Logwood," had killed herself [Chesterfield County Will Book 5:569]. This is not likely to be the Edmund who married Eliza Flournoy unless he was 20 years older than she was -- which is possible.
