The Dunns, Hardenia, Charles H. Cogbill, and Horation are all
buried in Tabernacle Hill Cemetery, Piperton, TN.
Edmond and Lucinda's inscriptions are carved on a single
tombstone standing in a cemetery in Center Hill, Desoto Co. MS,
southwest of Collierville. Why they moved there (if they did)
or why they were there is more of a mystery than what happened
to the gold Edmond was said to have buried during the civil War
at his Fayette Co. homeplace. Supposedly, it was buried under a
pear tree, but it was never found.
His will is recorded in Fayette Co. Will Book B page 250.
Lucinda died before the estate was settled. In 1875, 5 years
after her death, Charles H. Cogbill petitioned to be appointed
administrator. The Somerville court decided that Edmond had
died without a will - another mystery. Generations and descent
of his direct line was supplied by Stuart Gregg (A Crane's
Foot), and papers courtesy of Claude Marcellus Ballard of
Memphis, TN (a descendant of Edmond, who was accepted in the
Sons of the American Revolution).
Home in Piperton ca 1850. Gr/son Horation T. Ballard-Annie and
Albert.
