"Stephen Coleman moved to Pittsylvania County, Va from
Cumberland just prior to the Revolution, and made hes home near
Java. He was probably the son of Daniel Coleman of Cumberland,
who on May 1, 1750 was granted 2,000 acres on the south side of
Bannister River, below the upper Great Falls . In the first tax
list of Pittsylvanie, taken in 1767, Daniel Coleman of
Cumberland is listed as owning 300 acres. (From A History of

In 1453, also, Henry fell insane due to a hereditary disease of
the Valois family. Richard, Duke of York, became protector of
the kingdom during Henry's illness, but Henry's wife alienated
him upon her husband's recovery. Beginning in full the War of
the Roses, Richard attacked and defeated Queen Margaret at St.
Albans in 1455. Henry was captured by Richard in 1460 and forced
to name Richard as heir to the throne. After escaping, Henry
attacked at Towton and was defeated.
Edward IV, son of Richard of York, was crowned king and Henry
and Margaret were exiled to Scotland. In 1465 the two were
captured and held in the Tower of London until 1470 when Henry
was briefly restored to the throne. Henry's son Edward was
killed at Tewkesbury in 1471 by Edward IV. Henry was captured
and returned to the tower where he, the last of the
Lancastrians, was killed the next day.
